ARE CX it's silver. Only one I found near me that was short bed and priced decently. Had to drive to Syracuse but only paid 485 for it and it came carpeted and with a Yakima HD whispbar rack.

Besides the color, how do you like the Z-series? Any more pics of the inside and the tracks on top?

It's my first cap so I don't have much to compare it with but I can say I like the way the latch feels for opening/closing and the mechanical parts to open the vents feel solid.

I'm not 100% sold on having a cap but it's growing on me even with the red. I don't have any other pics right now but I'll get some more tomorrow.

Here's a couple more pics of the tracks and inside.

The only thing I need other than color matching it would be the brake light. Any suggestions on where to pick one up?

That's a beautiful shell! I'm guessing those are inserts or something in the tracks to keep it covered unless you have towers mounted. As for the bike light. When I did the wiring for my cap, all was working. Then a few days later I noticed the 3rd brake light wasn't working. My friend and I tested the wires and power and all was working on that end, so we narrowed it down to the brake light.

Check out Truck Outfitters Plus. I think this is where I ordered mine. I used a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive and took my light out, then wired the new one using a bit of solder and shrink tape (my friend is anal retentive with his wiring). The replacement light will have double-sided tape which holds it in place. It's like new!

Did you just run your wire along the frame to the light or did you go into the cab and down through the rubber grommet under the driver seat? Also is there one of those rubber grommets behind the rear seats some where on DC's?

My Snugtop Sport Hi-Liner was installed back a couple months ago and I have some upgrades planned including some light electrical work. I noticed they didn't bother to pass the wires through a rubber grommet so I installed one once I noticed the wire insulation was already showing minor wear on the hole drilled through metal. The arrow in the photo shows where I had to slice through the grommet to feed the wires through because I had no interest in removing the wires from the connectors. There are four wires here and I used a 1/4 inch O.D. grommet.

It's no wonder people have their third break-light go out on toppers when installs are done with such little regard for good practices.
    :(

Initially it was quote at $330 from the cap place but then they heard that insurance was paying so they bumped that up to $497. They know how to play the game!

I ran the wire along the frame. Seemed pointless to run the wire into the cab just to run it back out again. For that reason, I'm not sure if there are grommets in the cab of the DC.

Looks great! How are you liking it? Any Complaints? I'm in the market for a mid rise shell and would love to hear any cons.

Did you figure out how the water was getting into the light ?

How is the brake light attached , I haven't even looked yet

I think the water gets into the light right around the edges where the backing of the light connects to the lens. They're held on using 3M automotive double sided tape. The hardest part about replacing the light is removing the old one. Mine was so stuck on there that it was wanting to peel the paint off along with it. This wasnt a problem because i was already planning on repainting it, but its something to watch out for if your shell is already color matched
