I did, but when I sold my tonneau, I just did a rail swap with the buyer. It’s super easy to do, and I would suggest switching out the rails as it helps reduce the chances of leaking from those pockets.

I am curious as well. 2 weeks ago I ordered a SnugTop Rebel with all the bells and whistles. I have had an ARE with windoors and they never leaked. I am prepping the truck for the install by removing the bed rail caps and the head rail filler. I will be putting Dow black silicone sealant under everything, and sealing the gaps between the bed rail caps and the head rail. Along with a tailgate seal, and the bed cubbies sealed up I hope to make this as waterproof as possible. Tacomas are hard to get completely waterproof with a cap on , we will see.

    So stock.
Well, I live in the Central Valley of California so it hasn’t really been tested. That being said, I have noticed a little water in the bed after washing it that looks like is coming from the front where the bed meets the cap. It isn’t enough for me to worry about or to do anything though.

Just ordered new caps today. Buyer is out of state, so a swap was not possible. I don’t want this to leak, so I am taking all precautions.

Yeah I did a tailgate seal on mine, and we will see if it helps fill those large voids that you’re talking about. Guess we will see once the topper comes in! We’ve had a lot of rain here in Colorado, so this thing need to hurry up so I can test my sealing job.

My 2015 leaked under the bed rail caps going through car wash, other than that it was pretty watertight. Truck got totaled, so I am starting over. Poorer and wiser.

Nothing wrong with being poorer and wiser! I sealed under my rails too, hope it works.

The same shit everyone else has.
DIY bed slide designed, built, and installed. I need to pull it back out and paint/seal everything now that Im happy with it. Then decide if I wanna carpet the platform or do a sheet of rubber.

Hey guys.... I need some help.. I found a used snugtop rebel for my truck that im picking up tommorrow. And I have a few questions...

Can this be lifted onto the truck with 2 or 3 guys? or is it to heavy?

How do the mounting brackets work and what kind of tools should I bring to install this?

I am not meeting the owner he wont be availabe so the wife is showing me the shell. I have never installed one before so I have no idea what im getting myself into so I need to be prepared

    thanks guys

They usually weigh around 200 lbs. My wife and I can lift mine off the truck with some effort. 3 people makes it fairly easy.

The mounting clamps on snugtops should look something like this, so you should only need a basic socket/wrench set.

The other thing you'll need to do is wire in the 3rd brake light (it might also have a dome light to wire power to as well). Most shells will have some kind of quick connect harness. You might have to track down the truck side of that harness to tap into your brake light. Local snugtop dealer should be able to help you find the right one. Or this is a good resource: http://www.truckoutfittersplus.com/store/topper_parts_dome_lights_brake_lights.htm#wiring

    Good luck!

Alright, nearly a month after I got the shell and we're getting along well. Took me a couple of weeks to actually like the way it looks, but it's been so much more practical and useful to me than an open bed. Here's some updated pics.
