Got this a couple weeks back.

Snug Top Rebel I like the mounting system they use with small discrete bolt, and hook which jives with the bed rail system. The rack is a light duty Kargo Master I've gotten good use out of it so far. I still need to rig up a cleat system to lash tie down ropes to. I was a little bummed to installers got adhesive all over the damn place. They were nice guys, and all just kinda bummed every other day or so I'll find a finger print here, and there. Denatured alcohol does the trick cleaning it up with out having to scrub into the paint.

I'll try to get a couple shots of the good parts in the next day or so.

I've had a couple pretty good loads of trim lumber on it one of which was probably up around 200 lbs with lengths out to 18', and the shell held up to this very well. I reefed on the load to see if much deflection showed up, and it was very minor. I was a little worried, but that was put to rest.

I'd bet a person could rig up cargo baskets pretty easy to this type of rack. I think it could be reinforced easily to take more abuse also.

I'll tell you what though it makes a ton of noise once the speed gets up the I've been thinking of retrofitting a Yakima wind deflector to fit the rack in hopes it might take care of the noise.

I used to have a dedicated cab over rack on my Ranger , I know what you mean about the wind buffeting howl

Here is my cap with 16' trim material on it

Yeah I had a regular Kargo Master rack on my Frontier it would howl quite a bit, but the entire truck would pump out quite a bit of noise even with pretty tame road tires on it. The Tacoma is pretty decent for noise, but now with the rack, not so much. I was over on the mainland all last evening, and was toying with the idea of stopping by a sport rack place, but went for a burrito instead. Maybe I'll order one up online there are some pretty decent prices out there. This new rack is about 9 feet long, and does a decent job of supporting the load. I have a batch of paneling I have to cruise up north this morning I'll take some pics, I think the damn sun is even supposed to be out.

Hey Peter North, have you thought about adding a thule rack on the cab too? Apparently one of the Thule foot pads has properly spaced holes for the factory mounting holes on the truck.

I thought about it , but I don't like the look of the roof racks / feet on the cab when the cap is off .

    Here's a few more pics

I'm starting have quite a bit of confidence in in this rack, this load must have been well over 300 lbs. I really need to get some cleats installed I might just have a welder buddy put together some stainless bits I think one at each of the four cross braces, and then one on each of the two threw bolts connecting the top rail to the mail frame were that diagonal bit comes down. Making six points where I'm able to lash off rope.

Here's mine with the Yakima surf racks up top. I got the XV because i needed the sliding side glass so my pup can stick her head out in the wind! I love the fit/finish, the interior is carpeted, LED dome light, solid glass rear, fold down front w/ slider. Pro-lock is hooked up with my lock/unlock button. It's rad. I love it. It was mighty expensive though...

Thanks! Yah that's bummer they don't make them out there. The biggest advantage I've found over the Leer and ARE is the SnugTop uses two layers of weather stripping as opposed to one. The dual weather strips keep the moisture out, and form a tight seal around the bed. No leaky no squeaky! :D

You see how the profile of the mold is made for the frame-less side windows? Not supposed to be available......couldn't find any manufacture that would make a cap with frame-less back window and wind-doors on the side for the 2nd gen Tacoma.

One sales man told me he could do it, took my deposit, then called me back a week later and said, "sorry can't do it"

I wrote a strong worded letter to Leer about the above being sold already and the corporate office call me and said, "we want your business" :D

I guess you could buy it with the sides not cut and the wind doors separate, then cut in yourself.

    GL

Edit: or have a snug top shipped...
