Just picked this up a couple days ago. I've been looking for a shell for about 4 years now, and finally got one. Used short bed shells are really hard to come by here. It's a Range Rider Cruiser.

 

That looks real good man. Was a vented windoor an option ?

 

have any of you guys made molle window covers for your shell? Was thinking the part that doesn't slide on the sides may be a good option.

 

I ordered some mirror tint to put behind the factory tinted glass of mine. Has anyone tried this? I hoping for a near blackout inside in the daylight so people can’t see what I’ve got back there.

 

It should work, but I made "curtains" in mine its blacked out and you can take them off when you want

I was thinking/hoping the mirror tint would keep summer temps down also. The previous WalMart limo tint has faded severely.

Exactly how youd imagine.
+/- ran from my sPod under the rig, up thru the fron left corner of the bed, along the roof, then to the two holes i drilled through he rear. I'm very happy with their performance for chase lights, camp lights, and backing up my boat into tight spots

Help: Which one is better A.R.E. MX or Leer 180? A.R.E. Is offering a lower price vs Leer both with same options. Any insight would be helpful. TIA

 

I haven't had an are but I will be trying one next truck I curently have a leer. 100xr it works but I feel like it could of been better

 

IMO they’re all pretty much the same in terms of quality. It really depends on the finish and fit. For me I picked leer because of how it meets the bed. Also just make sure the dealer is aware of the leaky spots on a Tacoma so they can properly seal it.

 

I've had both. They are about the same. How the dealer seals it up is what is most important. Both have coupons on their web site for free stuff or discounts.

 

I mentioned this to both dealers when I went there. They both were aware of previous leaking with the Tacoma and both use a thicker front piece to stop this. A.R.E. Installers use a thin foam type for the sides as Leer uses what looks like two rubber tubes running side by side as one piece for the side. The other difference is the led light in the back....A.R.E. Charges $100, but connects it to the battery while Leer is included in price,but only connects it to the tail light—so it will only turn on if your tail lights are on. Right now, the A.R.E. Is $300 cheaper and I am still trying to get it lower.....

The LEDs in my Leer are independent, the one over the tailgate area turns on when I open the glass and the other up near the cab has a its own switch
