I have had toppers shift - fortunately, not very far. It is potential problem.

I suggest 6 bolts if you plan to go off-road - actually, I suggest 6 bolts no matter where you drive.

As for a sealing material, one thing I have used is pipe insulation tape. A lot of what I find is made by Armstrong, but I think there are other manufacturers. It's about 2" wide, black, and about 3/16" thick. It has some give, but is not unsupported spongy like "camper shell sealer tape" (the open cell foam stuff.) Home centers carry it.

Bed channel stiffeners and bed bars also help.

Looks good. What roof tracks and rack are you running?

cab and top racks are from Prinsu Design Studio. Their site: https://prinsudesignstudio.com/

The track rails came with the topper but it's from Thule which can be sold at any Leer dealers.

If Thule rack comes with your topper, ask your dealer/shop to swap the track rails around.

Information and the reason about the rails here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/prinsu-leer-topper-install.596882/page-2#post-23431721

Any pics of your bolt mod?
I’d hate for my shell to shift, i was worried about those c clamps while vibrating my way down a washboard road.

    Pic just because

Nice! Is it normal of that design to overhang the bed that much? I assume it's to help keep rain out?

Yes... Was the first thing I noticed too but its by design. In time Im sure I will get used to seeing it. Im going to remove the TRD Sport bed stickers as well and that will really help the overhang blend in better.

I know the ARE caps can eventually have issues with the bottom edge trim separating but did anyone else have theirs look like this brand new? Its only on the drivers side rear corner.

Mine does not look like that. If it's new I would get that fixed by the dealer.

The shell has been great so far. Does get some water in it with rain, so I am planning on properly sealing it. I would recommend having the installer do that when you get yours put on.

Cool. Thanks for the tip. Is that something that should be covered by purchase cost or is sealing it extra?

Thanks, I'm going to have to bolt that down. Those C clamps make me nervous

mark where you want it with a sharpie then use a long 2x4 to support the weight across the bed rails. Slide the topper over enough to drill the hole in the camper, possibly from below. Side back over and set it down. Mark the bedrail then reposition the topper again to drill the bedrail. Do a 3/8 hole or so first and then a stepper bit to reach 1/2”.

Be mindful of what’s below the bedrail. My 1st gen has some perforated support and you may need to drill both sections and use a longer bolt depending on where you put the holes.

If you’ll look at my pic again you’ll see 2 holes. The first one pinched/boat tailed my bedside just enough that the tail gate would drag a little on the latch. Apparently had been that way with the clamps and I didn’t notice. So I used one of those extending ratchet bed securing things to open it up 1/4” for a new hole.

I would purchase the material (check this thread for lots of products) and then ask to have them use it when they put the shell on. Not sure if they'll charge you.
