Calm as a cucumber! Did not mean for it to come off like that.

It may seem really cheap/silly, but have you considered the real thin rubber material that people use to keep things sliding around a drawer?
    s-l1000.jpg

Cut to size all along the bed rail tops. . . two layers if needed. . . might give the cap and bed something to "bite" when tightened down and prevent any shifting. . .

Yeah! Its to prevent the cap from rubbing the paint on the bed. That way if a few years from now he wants to take it off, there is not a wear mark in the paint of the bed all the way around.

Its hardly noticeable. My cap has the same amount of gap/overhang. His is just noticeable because of the sun/shadow.

No issues so far and all over the place and country. Like others said common sense and it’s about load distribution with cross bars and mounting Feet. The more the better.

I run a leer 100R with 54 in yakima tracks cut down and installed myself, 6 prinsu mounting feet 1-1/2 inch tall to match the front prinsu perfect, 5 load bars with 3 load bars attached to the feet other 2 load bars for front and rear distribution and mountign surface for rear lights. Custom side plates from a couple guys on here and ordered all the hard ware with the cross bars sourced from tnuts. fun project and turned out great. Got the shell used for $400 in great condition and then custom painted it to match for $300. Shitty about your shell was it new? if so get it warrantied if not new see if the company will help out being you never overloaded it or anything.

My sliding windows have this top and bottom to slide through but they don’t slide anymore. The portion where they slide now is in poor shape and I can only open them about 1”. There is some on the top of the window where the glass doesn’t make it that far that I can remove and use on the bottom. It wouldn’t be long enough to seal the entire run when open, but I think enough when the windows are closed.

Wow sounds like you saved a ton of money on that setup. Im not too excited to spend $700 on a topper rack. I was wondering why your truck looks so much better than mine and then i realized its a second gen :annoyed:

Yeah i got my shell new for about 2 grand in Nov 2019. The shell dealer said he is going to help me adress the little crack and install some nice rubber gasket next week.

Sorted my sliding windows this afternoon. there was enough of that channel/track stuff that I could basically cut off the bad section and reinstall it. I went ahead and took the time to 10% mirror tint the side windows and the back, too. I’m no tint install master but there didn’t seem to be any bubbles this time. Can’t see my things inside in the day time.

Before install all cleaned and prepped.

    30 minutes later after install.

She ain't much. I was commuting it every 2 week from MS to WTX then 2 weeks later back home for right at two years. Around at 2200 miles round trip and never left me stranded. I wouldn't hesitate to make an attempt to Cape Horn or at least do a Butch Cassidy southern tour.

It looks like there was not enough support there to begin with. I'd check out a body shop to be honest, and ask how much to re-do the fiberglass in the corner. It's really not that hard, but the top has to come off to get it done.

I’ve been eyeing this topper. How closely does its height match the cab height? If you were to put a rack on it would it be even with the cab?
