I’m a fan of both, just got back from a two week trip and did a few nights in my ground tent at a hike-in site in the North Cascades. I sleep better in and prefer the RTT but still love sleeping on the dirt

Yeah I'm always more comfortable in the RTT, but I switched to dirt when I was single and it was just easier. Now my GF is starting to camp with me and I think she'd like the comfort of an RTT

This is my first topper I have had so I am not a great review but love it so far. Had a rack and RTT on prior and I love having the extra security and having the aluminum doors on the side gives me so much accessibility.

Finally found a camper top for my DCSB. It’s a bit dated but overall pretty good shape. I am thinking color match and front runner rack is up next. Black bedliner crossed my mind, but seems like it would collect dust and dirt. Anyone have a good or bad experience with bedliner on a shell?

If anyone comes across a Cement or Black Camper for a DCSB in the Texas and surrounding states let me know. I'm thinking of selling my UpTop Overland Bed Rack and going the camper route for dogs.

Your DIY rack side panels look a lot better than mine lol - how did you do the cutouts?

Thanks, I cut close with a jigsaw, then with a router and bottom-bearing bit.

    I did a little write-up here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/my-take-on-the-diy-camper-shell-rack.687712/

Edit: If you meant the cut outs on the ends of the side panels for anchor points, I think I forgot to mention that step... I used a 1/2” paddle bit to make two holes and connected them with the jigsaw, finishing with the flush trim bit
