Question for shell minded people. I had an ARE which was bolted on, removed and sold it, sold the truck, bought it back with a Leer installed using clamps.

Anyone know if I were to drill holes in the Leer rails to bolt it on, would that compromise it in any way?

My topper have been like that way for awhile. No problem. No bolts. Just clamps. I have no idea that you would drill the holes or not. Check under the rails and see if you have room for bolts.

Yeah, I kind of want to bolt it since the rail holes are already there and the clamps annoy me, just wondering if maybe Leer's are not able to do that.

Maybe you ask topper dealer to drill the holes then bolt them. Maybe for free or a fee.

This looked familiar, I am also trying to get used to the bubble look. Wondering if I should have went with a Leer 180 instead? The ARE MX seems to be more rounded than the Leer 180? I am having an issue finding an ARE MX with prinsu or similar racks installed.

If you get prinsu top rack on the top of the topper, so you won't notice the round part.. it will change the look. If the top rack won't fit on the rails, then the topper dealer will mount with alternative mount options. If it's thule rails, then you may have to flip them around in order to have the prinsu mounts fit.

If you hate that look, then you can sell it then get leer... it's really up to you.

I wish I would have found a leer with straight lines. I may see if I can find one. If I can, I’ll swap them out and sell the one I have . I love the roof racks y’all have on yours FB4340CA-1769-4AF5-83E3-38751B5C57AC.jpg

Sorry to bother, but having a devil of a time finding replacement gas strut brackets for windoors on a Leer 122. These are the little plates that are sometimes called "ball stud mounts" online. The ball is 10mm and it's a triangular piece of metal with a ninety degree angle to line up with the window frame (pics below). Century Distributing has some that are close, as does Amazon but they're not the same and I worry that the same bracket needs to go in because the geometry otherwise may get screwed up. Does anyone happen to know the model/part number or manufacturer for these particular brackets? I just need a few of them to replace the rusted ones on my shell. The strut itself is easy to find but the mount is proving to be more of a challenge.

^^ My local Leer dealer quoted me very reasonable prices on the struts themselves. Do you have a local dealer? Something like $19 per strut. I bet they could help with the brackets. I guess it might depend on where you are and how far to the nearest dealer?

@scofflaw is there a local machine shop? Most any metal shop could easily fab you up those parts.
