Thanks for responding. That would make sense. But I should have said they’re on the Windoors. So odd. Almost wonder if they’re for limiting rattle or something…

Thanks! Guess I better not toss them then.
Thought maybe they were causing the leak lol

Anytime i doubt it would be your cause of the leak, more than likely would have to pull the window/trim and put a bead of silicone around it i have seen some others with similar issues. My 1 windoor has a light leak, only during really heavy rain not enough to fix the issue unless it gets worse

Yeah. My leak seems to have gotten worse this winter. Decided to take a look since the sunshine came out today. Not the end of the world, just slightly annoying. Lol

Does anyone in this thread have advice on the length of tracks for the top of the shell. I have a DCLB shell coming. I found a great deal on a Yakima kit but the tracks are only 54inches. Wondering if it matters much if they’re the shorter tracks mounted toward the back of the shell? The primary reason for the rack will be: Yakima fly rod vault, Yakima ski rack (winter) Yakima cargo box (summer). Seems like 54 inches is a little longer than how my 4Runner cross bars were spaced out but just curious if it matters much. If I could have got the same deal with longer tracks all in I would have but I didn’t so here I am… :anonymous:

I have a shortbed so I got the short tracks. Our odyssey OEM racks are 29” apart so I set mine up that way with the front crossbar full forward so it can work for our skybox. Plenty of room. Minimal point to a crossbar within 12” of the back edge of the shell in my book.

I just installed the decked drawers. Was going to start shopping for a canopy next. I’d like one with the gull-wing style side windows. I can’t seem to find which manufacturers offer this but I’ve seen Leer and 4ARE and I’m still uncertain which models offer this? Lastly, anyone running a decked system and canopy have any input on which leaf pack to go with? I was thinking Deaver Series 1 or 2 to run slightly lifted when empty.

I have an ARE MX and they call them windoors.
I think they are a great feature.

I'm not sure about a Leer but the AREs are light

Another ARE MX guy here. I know ARE and Leer also offers the windoors, not sure about Century.

The windoors are very much worth it. I also recommend the sliding, fold down front glass, makes cleaning the back truck window easy and allows you to pass stuff into the bed of the truck. While you’re at it, get the factory roof tracks installed, much easier for them to do it durning the build than you to install later. Do any interior lights yourself, they want way too much to do factory installs.

My topper weighs about 250 pounds. Think a cab height is right at the 200# mark. FWIW, I’m still on stock rear springs and have a half width sleeping platform in my bed and my recovery gear, about 350# of constant weight in the bed. I’ve lost about an inch of ride height and feel the bump stops pretty regular when off road.

If you are planning on sleeping in the bed seriously think about a mid height topper. The extra headroom is really nice when you’re in there. Depending on your height you may be able to sit up on a sleeping platform with the raised roof.

Here's a pic of the ARE MX on 37s.
I'm not sure what a Leer looks like on 37s or if that's even a thing.
Maybe someone with a Leer can post up some pics

I have a leer 100XR that as the windoors on it. Of course it’s an addition at a price. I’m pretty sure Leer can add them to most any model.

Air bags. You control the height no matter the load and they weigh a fraction of what additional leafs do. I have a cap and diy platform/drawers along with a few hundred lbs of carpentry tools but sometimes I run it empty and others with debris loads instead. With a load of broken concrete rubble I had them inflated to 65lbs and it handled extremely well with no sway or bottoming out and after the dump run dropped them to 20lbs in seconds and no harsh ride. They max out at 100psi but I can’t imagine overloading it that much, it would be a bad idea for the rest of the running gear. Sumo springs are another option but as with leafs are non adjustable and that was the whole point.

Leer and Century are the same shells, made in the same factory. Just different badges slapped on.

Thanks! It’s a great rig. My biggest piece of advice would be to do a good job sealing your bed rails and gaps prior to the cap being put on. First trip down the fire roads my bed was full of dust. I think in the summer I’m going to pull my cap off and seal it up properly. I did nothing and relied on the install shop and they did a sub par job. I can’t complain with any of the canopy options.
