This is a TruXedo Truxport Tonneau bed cover.

Swapped it from one Tacoma to another and it was easy to install.

    ESI Tailgate shell installed today.

Southern California got a ton of rain these past few days and as expected, the bed was wet.

I've narrowed it down to the front slider window and driver side window, on top of the corners which I added butyl to already. I don't see any gaps but will need to check again.

Going to reach out to the topper shop tomorrow and get some insight on the windows.

If you have someone spray water on the front corners while you are inside with a bright flashlight you will, most likely, find the way of intrusion

I switched from a fiberglass ARE shell to the RSI SmartCap. Night and day difference for camping and general use.
The wind doors are a huge plus. Steel construction lets me make full use of the racks with a tent or other randoms.
My German shepherds love the windows because they stick their heads out.
Lastly, the lack of carpet interior makes it easy to clean off dirt and dog hair.
It weighs just about the same as a fiberglass shell.

Sorry for the delay to answer... I've had zero issues, it's been awesome. I don't know what the issue would be. Did they specify?

Looks awesome! Pretty much the same version of the leer shell that I’m waiting for. If it doesn’t come this week I will have waited longer for the shell than the truck!

Lol! I placed the order February 1st and they called me about 15 minutes before they closed on Friday saying it arrived and I was able to get it installed today so it wasn't too terrible of a wait.

Nice! Looks great. I love my CX classic, not flashy and adds so much functionality to the truck.

Any shelled 3rd gen double cab long beds running front 5100s set to 1.1 and 1.5” icons in the rear? Big win if you’re on 265/70R17 and paint is black in color. Massive win if you’re running the ARE CX Evolve.

Curious for those of you who just had your shells installed how much prep work you did before the install? My installer is telling me they take the rails off the bed and seal the holes along the bed using some form of tape, they have a gasket to help deal with the top corners of the bed near the cab and they have a gasket/seal that goes all arond tue bed between the shell and the rails. The tailgate I’ll seal after the shell is on but just curious how much prep you did before the shell was installed for the areas that will be inaccessible after. I already have seen the bed seal videos, just more curious to get some insight from those folks who have had a recent dealer install done. Shell should be here this week and on next week! Thanks in advance!

All I did was add butyl to the front corners of the bed (well known leak points). Took a few attempts but luckily its been raining a lot in California so it allowed me to do a lot of trial and error. I also added the ESI tailgate seal afterwards. The topper shop added a layer of foam tape across the front top rail and thats it.

I don't see how it would leak from the side because the topper overhangs the bedsides an inch or two and there is a double bulb seal under the topper's edge where it sits on the bedside top rail.

I had a leaky window but the topper shop removed it and replaced the butyl that came from Leer, with a gasket tape. I'm 99% leak free now. When I open the rear glass, water drips from the frameless rubber seal into the bed a bit (just a few drops).

I removed all trim in the bed and caulked everything with silicone. Used butyl tape as needed for big gaps.

I’m looking at either the leer 100xr, Are CX or the Smartcap adventure models. Any thoughts on these?

There’s a ton of info around the forum on all 3. I personally love my ARE CX. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

Depends what you're looking to do with a shell.

I was trying to buy a used Smartcap Evo Sport but the buyer kept flaking on me so I decided to buy a new 100XR. I like the large sliding window for truck camping. The smartcap has a tiny window with no screen. No regrets buying a fiberglass shell.

After many months of searching, I finally found my needle in a haystack.

A used, local, color-matched Cavalry Blue topper.

Didn't even mind paying the full asking price on Marketplace. $2000. Now to put the top rack up there.

Nice find! That price is still half of what they are new nowadays
