We use 2 of these. While they're no Sleep Number beds (would probably be -30), they work well for us. 2 of them side by side fit great and take up little space when packed. I got them for <$20 ea on clearance.

I used a couple of Teton mattress pads that I can spread out or double-stack depending on what my preference is.

Which ones did you get. I was thinking about this and I have extra t bars from my Sherpa and was thinking with a base of some type I could actually use those on my Yakima tracks and it would be almost the same thing as the Alu ones

Came to the realization that I dont immediately have a need for them yet so there was no point spending the money, but I will be getting the Alu-Cab ones when the time comes because of the functionality and price.

Actually most people in SoCal who have shells on their tacos are usually grandpas, the younger people who have shells are in mountain towns like mammoth

I’ll say the central coast has a lot of kids with campers along with older dudes like myself. But since I’ve been spending more time in Oceanside since that’s where I’m trying to move I do see more older dudes with campers and younger guys with normal trucks

so what does that make me... 40, and I keep a topper on my truck because it keeps the crap in my bed dry, and I'm to lazy to take it off and store it. dont think im old, and not cool and live in the mountains

How hard is it to replace the glass in these. I haven't had a topper since 1988 and when I accidentally busted a glass side panel, they just cut, ground, and tempered a new panel. I think it cost me like $65 at the time.
But it was all flat. Some of these windows look curved a little.

Some of shells have flat glass. Mine has flat glass all sides with radius corners.

Most dealers can replace the glass for you unless glass shops have them for shells.

I've had shells on all my Toyotas since 1983. I'm 70 now and still not a GRANDPA, Whippersnapper!
