Just had a Century shell installed last week (pictures to come). I'm not sure if it is sealed properly (which I will investigate), but driving in the rain or going through the carwash definitely allows water inside...not a deluge, mind you, but some dampness occurs.

Anyway, I am experiencing fogging on the inside of the back glass. I realize some amount of moisture will get in regardless of the seal and am curious if this is common? Is there a solution, such as cracking the windows on an ongoing basis or applying some sort of coating (Rain-X, etc.)?

I can't see squat out of the back window after moisture has penetrated the shell and don't really care to squeegee the inside every time it rains.

Then perhaps it is the 137% humidity in Charleston. :notsure:

Amazon reviews of the Rain-X anti-fog product make it sound like a total POS waste of money and time. Maybe this is just a fluke, but I sure as hell don't want to deal with it every time it rains.

Oh well, white people problems I suppose...

They do make different weather stripping for in between the shell and bed too, some better than others ;)

My experience with my previous vehicle, a Frontier, was that there will be some moisture entering the cap area near the tailgate after driving in the rain or going thru a carwash, but never had any leakage from the seal. It had a Snugtop cap also. I don't remember having issues seeing out the back window so there probably wasn't much condensation buildup, I do use the rear view mirror a lot. I haven't driven this one in the rain or gone thru a carwash with this one yet. Will let you know.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Had one long ago on a chevy that leaked where the rear window frame closed on the tailgate, just at the corners. Really only a problem when it rained hard. Road spray didn't seem to be a problem. My dads does not leak either. Never had a fogging problem either but normally never used that mirror inside, only the side mirrors.

I'd try rainex fog stuff if they still make it. Or ventilate somehow. I'm done with caps/covers so I can't give better first hand experience than that.

    Nope, I'm a tightwad.

Yeah, my LED dome light is not working properly so I'm heading back to the installer anyway. I'll ask exactly what they did (I didn't watch all of the install).

Thanks. I can see where H20 will always penetrate the tailgate while driving so I don't expect it to be dry as a bone...I just don't get this extreme condensation.

So perhaps just crack the windows when this occurs? This is all new to me. I've even considered a jar of DampRid.

It is supposedly insulated, though, and I don't think the water is coming through the roof/ceiling. I honestly figured a carpeted interior would get moldy and gunky, etc., over the years so I opted out.

    Well, hell.

I notice that you're in a very humid climate...I think, never been there. Here in Spokane WA is dry as hell, so moisture usually evaporates quickly. Cracking a window or using one of these de-humidifiers might help. http://drizair.com/ They work great in RVs and basements, it's amaizing how much water they suck out of the air. I use the classic design in my camper over the winter months and never have a mold or musty smell issue in the spring.

Hmm...yeah, that it is similar to the DampRid I mentioned. I guess that is a good first step. It rained like crazy all day yesterday and this morning was the worst I had seen it. So, maybe it was just an anomaly.

    I appreciate the help guys!

I just noticed that my Snugtop is leaking a little through the brake light above the back door when it rains all day. I have a bit of water that gets through anyway, but we had 2+" of rain the other day and I had a LOT of water in there.

Gonna have to tear that thing apart and see whats happening.

Not sure what the cubbies are, but the storage bins are still there. Something different I take it? Enzo says yes.
