If the rear door was rubbing the paint off the tailgate , the cap was mounted too far forward or the rear door not adjusted properly

They installed it. eventually the rubber started coming off and it flapped all over the place causing MORE damage. Asked if they would replace it, warranty it, or if I could buy a replacement piece of rubber. NO on all counts.

I looked into Leer first too, because they were the only manufacturer that had a dealer in my town. After I found out they couldnt do what I wanted, I searched the others. I had to drive 300 miles to get my shell, but it was well worth it to get exactly what I wanted.

Folks, I am in need of finding a picture of a Speedway Blue Tacoma with a black topper on it. Anyone have a pic they can post or have a link they can provide? I know it might not be for everyone but I found a black topper on the cheap. And money is tight (for America I guess as well). And if needed maybe down the road we could get it painted to match. But I would like to show a picture of this setup to my wife before we "bother" the seller. Thanks James

If it's a good deal just do it. Try the photoshop thread. It will look perfect for the right price!

I agree, if you need it, and it's a good deal go for it. Paint isn't crazy expensive.

I love the Snug-Top caps but there are zero dealers even remotely close to me. I ended up having my Leer practically handed to me by a local TW member - very lucky.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that they aren't available for east coast guys. They are a great cap.

My snug top is doing this. The rear door seal sits right below the plastic cover on top of the tail gate and it's wore down to bare metal. Luckily, I live in the west so rust isn't an issue really but still makes me mad. This happened under previous owners care. Not mine. Not sure how to resolve the issue

Which is great and all, but they don't sell them everywhere.

I was in the same boat as others wanting the windoors but decided they weren't that important. Here is the quote I got today for the Leer I want.

You should look at getting the removable front window. Makes cleaning a billion times easier.

I said Windoors were NOT important for the 3 Caps I have had. Yet every time I look back I WANT THE WINDOORS and it has been the only reason why I have upgraded to the next shell. You will figure it out. What ever works for you. I have learned to trust my initial instinct.

My Leer dealer talked me out of the Adventure package and said it was cheaper to go with the higher end cap. He figured it out with what I wanted and it was by $200.00 and I did get the removable slider front window. You can not clean it with out it.

you guys remove your windows to clean them? Cant you just throw some soapy water and hose it down ( what i do lol ) Even running muddy dirt roads in the mtns my rear windows never got dirty enough for me to make that effort. lol Not hating, just never crossed my mind to do that.

BTW...i have windoors on my snugtop. It is very awesome to say the least and i thank the previous owner for doing so. Only thing i would do is add screen option of some sort.
