The problem with the xq and longer shocks is where/how they are mounted. My old xq only opened to just above my head, and I would hit the handle constantly

I did go to the leer dealer and try longer shocks, but even one inch longer and the cap wouldn't close. The dealer suggested moving the shock mounts on the actual cap, but he wasn't sure how much more height it would get me

My tacoma and leer got totaled before I had a chance to mess with it.

The ARE I replaced it with has the alminum framed type door specifically because of that

I ordered the same one except in white and with windoors. How do you like it?

 

I do, the paint looks great and it seems to be well built. The fact that the back door opens almost straight up is a huge plus and it was significantly cheaper than the leer

 

Must be model specific , my Leer100RCC opens up wide , no headroom issues whatsoever

I was told 3-4 weeks but I have a feeling it'll be longer then that with my luck.

 

I just ordered a Ranch brand camper top. Carpeted liner, sliding side windows with screens, fold down front window, dome light, and a roof rack. I can't wait to get it and once I do I will post pics.

 

It is, I think 100 refers the shell size/type and the letters after are the other stuff. The frameless glass rear doors are really nice looking but I don't think they open as high as the Framed doors

Love your topper by the way. I was looking at that exact same one, the shape of the leer really compliments the tacoma

 

100% correct.

 

I had four XQ before over the years chevy 2500, 2 F250, F350 and they all opened all the way. I just felt they all would. I guess you get a little truck and they made it so the window doesn't go up to high for shorter people.

and I don't have a pic available. Strike that.
My LEER 100XL has a frameless back window/door.
The Spring Struts attach towards and thru the lower corners of the glass when closed, due to weight.
When open, the glass is not far above level.
I'm not tall, and with no load, I have no problem
Gotta watch it if carrying weight.
Of course that's an excuse for a lift to solve that problem.
I do have 1 pic I can post.
Taken before replacing struts under warranty.
They were not lifting the window completely, hence the low angle. Better now.

Damn TW. This is why I don't get shit done.
Pics as promised.
The mounting point on the frameless doors, is the reason for the low lifted angle.
The design does not allow for longer struts either

Snug top super sport, i like the shell a lot, looks great but the only thing is the low angle of the back glass due to no frame. I have the boot turned in so it wont wear off the cab paint and the dogs get a breeze in the back.

 

I just got this off craigslist yesterday...so sick!! I'm actually really digging the black .

 

For rear door reference, Snugtop Rebel rear door on mine, and my Dad's ARE not sure of model.

 

I can finally contribute by posting pics.
I got the ARE cx series shell with windoors and love the thing!
