that is sic as hell Craig. I still like the carPC idea that I want to do, but I keep thinking more and more about just doing a tablet like that

I too am curious about more details on the setup

The A/C controls had to be relocated. They were just laying in the glovebox since my brother hasn't had time to take the whole truck apart apart.

Well he found some time and decided to redo a lot, all I have are just some teaser pictures

Just got through replacing my JBL headunit with...
Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS, PAC TATO, PAC SWI-RC, Micro Bypass, and tapping into the OEM-back up camera.

It was fun taking on the install myself. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get all that crap back into the dash! There was far more stuff going back into the dash, than what came out. The PAC TATO box/harness to hook up the existing JBL stuff is huge! But everything finally went back in with a lot of coaxing...and I think it came out pretty nice. There is a definite difference in sound. The only thing that I'm having trouble with is the "advanced app mode." I can't get the Pandora and Waze app to work with iPhone 5. All the other apps seem to work fine. Anyone else have this issue?

I have a similar model, though I use it with a Samsung Galaxy S4. To get Pandora to work I have to turn the radio off, start Pandora on my phone, push the play button (on the Pandora app) on my phone, then put the radio back into Pandora mode. Kind of a pain, but once its on, it all works as advertised. Can change stations, pause, thumbs up/down, all that jazz.

Thanks for the reply. On mine, Pandora will also work if I start the app BEFORE I put the head unit into the "advanced app mode." What I'm talking about is if I go into "apps" on the head unit, then start the "app radio" app on my iPhone, the head unit will go into "advanced app mode." From there, I can access "maps," "contacts," "calendar," and "pictures." Those apps work fine. But you can also download other compatible apps. I've tried NavFree and iHeartAuto, which work fine. I have full control of those apps from the head unit. But Pandora and Waze will not allow control from the head unit when in "advanced app mode." Pandora will give me a blank screen and no sound, and Waze will just mirror the display on my phone. It functions fine from the phone and displays it on the head unit, but I can't control it via the head unit, which it's supposed to allow me to do. Hard to explain unless you have the app radio functions on your head unit.

I had a Pioneer AvIC-Z110bt, Audison LRx5.1 amp running Hertz Mille components through a bit 1 that was time aligned. No crossovers to the Mille components because I ran it active through the bit 1. Subs were a JL Audio stealthbox. This was in my 2010 Tacoma. Sounded awesome. Just sold the head unit. Now the stealthbox is for sale.

Got rid of the Tacoma a weeks ago today! :-(
Kids were getting a little big for the back seat!

I second this. It's not expensive, considering what you get.

such a great looking install - I would be all for the ar3 if only it had satellite radio capability. I'm all into the jailbroken iphones and what not, so I'm sure I could do serious damage with the AR3 haha.
