I too have a question. I have Sirius XM on my stock radio and from my understanding I would need the Sirius XM tuner for whatever aftermarket radio I buy.

Do you just call Sirius XM and have your current subscription transferred over?

    Another question

Is there a way or a write up on how to tap into the factory back up camera to plug into an aftermarket hu? I think I've seen this on the newer model trucks that have the bu camera in the hu but trying to figure out how to do it with my 2011. Mine of course is in the rear view mirror.

Super inexpensive Kenwood DDX271. Didn't care about Bluetooth because I don't like messing with my phone while driving. Really just wanted it for USB and XM capability. Although at this point with how great Android Auto has gotten, I've been thinking about buying a unit with that capability to replace it with. Then I get the benefits of what my phone has to offer without having to touch the phone.

Yes. I've done it. Somewhere on here someone did a write-up. Basically, there's a video input cable and a wire that only has power in reverse near the fuse panel in the truck. It's in a plug that connects off to the left of the panel. I used t-taps to connect an RCA cable and a power wire in and ran them over to the headunit. Now I have it in both places.

I'm really wanting to pull the trigger on a Pioneer unit but the one thing holding me back is the fact the volume knob being a push button instead of the rotary. Anyone regret not having a rotary knob?

Where is the cheapest place to buy the wiring harness? I'm looking at the Pioneer AVH-X2800BS. Crutchfield has it for $250 and $315 with the install gear. I found the hu on Amazon for like $200 but the install gear is much higher making the total price about $5 more. Trying to find the install gear cheaper elsewhere but no luck. Probably just buy from cructhfield. Just tying to find the cheapest route though.

    Mine is the JBL btw.

Who had a hu that has ipod/iPhone control? Does it work or show on the screen? Went to Best Buy today and saw the hu I was looking at in person. The sales guy told me I would need an apple car play unit to do what I was told this unit would do. Which makes sense. The guy I spoke with at Cructhfield told me the one I'm looking at would basically do what the car play does, displaying gps and such apps on the screen when plugged into the rear USB port. The BB guy told me different. So if this is the case then just what does iPhone control do for me? I just want to make sure of what I'm buying beforehand so I'm not disappointed if it doesn't do what I was told. Thanks. The one I'm looking at Pioneer avh x2800bs.

I just plug into my USB port for my headunit and my Apps come up on my headunit. I can listen to my music I have downloaded on my phone. Or Pandora. Maybe this will help.

What phone and hu are you using?

I since read up about what I was talking about on that Pioneer unit that it has an option called app radio one which is supposed to allow some similar features as android in that you can thru the app use some limited features that Apple blocks out. For instance a gps function on the hu which is nice but read that the app had issues and crashes, and just doesn't work. Great idea but sounds like a waste. There is a Sony feature that is similar and from what I've read it also doesn't work effectively. I know I can control my iPhone with these hu's but like the idea of mirroring onto the hu screen. But apparently unless I spend the $ for carplay or app radio it's not going to happen with iOS.

After doing a lot of research (as I always do) I think I've decided to go with the Kenwood DDX374BT.

This brings up the question, is anyone on here using the idatalink maestro in their trucks? This unit had this install option and now trying to decide if it's worth it? It allows the hu to read/reset codes, display certain gauges and info like tire pressure. Cost about an extra $80 which I don't think is worth it but wanted to hear anyone else's opinions that may have it before ordering.

Do you have a part number for the scosche kit? What's wrong with Metra? That's what crutchfield will give me if I buy from them.

How you liking this now? Think I'm going with the DDX374BT. What about your truck? Do you have the steering wheel controls and they working? Been reading through this thread about some having trouble with the phone side working. Wondering if Innees to spend the extra for the idatalink maestro.
