Not a big collection (yet) but I like them. Just got the Glock today so I'm still kinda giddy about my new "toy" as the wife calls it. :D

I've put about 1,000 rounds through my CW9 and really like it as a carry gun. Of course, it's a small 9 so it does get to be a bit rough on the wrist after about 100 rounds at the range (lots of flip) but groups as well as you can hold it. For the price it's a great gun.

Can't wait to get to the range with the Glock. I've shot Glocks before but never my own.:D

Yeah, but a gun that small isn't really meant to be a range gun (frequent shooter) anyway. And if you ever have to "use" it, I'm sure the recoil will never even register in your brain.

I know what you mean, though. I shot about 100 rounds thru a buddy's Ruger LCP (.380) a few months back, and for a tiny .380, that little gun will beat you up. Made my hand sore for a couple of days. Not a range gun by any means, lol.

When my wife and I took the NRA Basic safety course there was a couple there that had never even opened the box of their brand new LCP. It was scary the first time she shot it and hit the ceiling. The husband actually started laughing while EVERYONE else knew that it was a bad thing. They ended up saying that they didn't like that gun but did get to shoot some larger, more appropriate for a beginner, guns and did ok. Funny how smaller is not better for a beginner.

    noobs. :)D)

On a similar note, about 3 months ago (back when it was still warm) I was at the range just killing time one morning and this family of 3 shows up and lands next to and around me on both sides. They all had high-dollar custom 10/22's (I'm talking serious target rifles) and they had a young boy with them who was itching to shoot. Now, the way this range is setup, there are 4 or 5 lanes per target distance. For instance, there is a wall dug into the ground at 25 yards, go 5 or 6 lanes then there is another wall dug out at 50, and so on up to 300 yards. Well, just before this family showed up, another shooter had driven his jeep out to the 200 yard tagets, and from where I was, I couldn't see him for the mounds, but I knew he was down there. This kid whips his rifle out of it's case and ponts it downrange as he chambers a round (he's standing up). I said, "hang on there little buddy, there's a man downrange." With that he lowered his weapon and started to turn around. When he did, I found the muzzle of his rifle pointing at my chest at a distance of about 2 feet...with a live round in the chamber. I fell over my bench trying to get away, but the kid didn't get it and just stood there in awe watching me, with his rifle pointed at me, fumbling around trying to get out of his way. Every which way I would move, he would follow...with the barrel, lol. His dad came over and crawled his ass for it, but it was too late...I was outta there.

Another thing that gets my goat at the range is guys who turn a handgun 90 degrees to the target to inspect it instead of rotating their wrist (keeping the muzzle pointed downrange). I looked up one day and saw a muzzle pointed right at me from a guy 4 or 5 lanes away. I slipped in behind a 8"x8" pole and watched him clear a bad round w/o ever touching the safety of removing the magazine from the weapon, then point it directly downrange and fire. He and I had a little chat after that, then I spent a good hour shooting with him and all we really talked about was range safety...just in the name of preventative maintenance.

Both of thse incidents happened at the same range. It's probably my own damned fault for going back, but is $4 to shoot all day, lol.

We have a gun club near town that I joined just to avoid that type of interaction. It's $100/yr membership and you have your own fob that opens the gates, club house, etc. there are outside ranges for pistol, rifle, shotgun, plinking, and skeet and an indoor range with about 12 lanes. It's a very "family feel" club and anyone that did the type of stuff you're talking about would get one warning then would not be around any more (the club, not buried:D). It's a scary thing to see a gun pointed at your while someone fingers the trigger trying to "fix their grip". i had one guy ask me how I knew his pistol was loaded after I politely, but without question, directed him to point the muzzle downrange. He wasn't aware that his pistol had a loaded chamber indicator...

Another good thing about a club environment, the older guys are always willing to give you pointers, share their guns, etc and most of the younger guys (not many of us and at 31 I'm considered young at this club) are very eager to learn from the veterans. I've pulled my groupings in considerably due to pointers gained while I was just plinking and an old salt came over and suggested I try a new stance, grip, etc. Good stuff.

I'd be all over that, but I don't have that option here.

I keep telling my wife I'm gonna build a range here in our little town and get rich. :)

I know your feeling... I was out at the 50 yd sighting in an old rifle of mine and this kid with his AR-15 did essentially the exact same thing. At the time I didn't believe it was loaded, but when i saw a live round come out of the chamber after a cease fire was called it was a combination of my heart coming to a stop, and controlling some rage. Ridiculous to say the least. Now i usually rent an entire bay for my self and one or two others that know they're doing.

    scary stuff.

I walked into an indoor handgun range once and saw 3 holes thru the bench! I went and told the owner, and he said he knew about it...said there'd been a couple of accidents back there...like it was no big deal. lol.

we dont just have a few stray holes though...i can deal with a small handful because unfortunately...accidents happen...however...MULTIPLE holes in the dividers, ceiling, wall, and back plexiglass scares me...i wont even walk back there if i hear someone shooting...just because more than a couple people have fired thru the back plexiglass into where the rangemaster sits and you sign in and shit

fawk that...i'll stay my ass in the front of the store and look at the guns instead and then go to the private range
