    Thanks for the info guys.'

Mike, Ive got a 1911 clone 45. Ive had it for a while and the thing shoots great for an old beat up 45. I also have a 40, 357/38/9 and a 38s&w, but want to pick up a 22 for plinking and teaching the lady to shoot.

If you want a really accurate .22, check into the Ruger Mark III for plinking. It's a lot of fun to shoot and very accurate because of the longer barrel. The only downside is they are sort of a pain to break down and can be difficult to find for sale.

    I second this

    I love my mk III

I've got one with a 6 7/8 inch slab barrel. It's too heavy to carry around in the woods, I wish I had a 4 inch bull barrel instead. Though the slab barrel does make it nice to shoot.

Here is mine, the Houge grip is worth getting for sure

I chose the Browning buckmark over the Ruger on one point alone, breaking it down to clean. Both look similar, both are about the same cost. Ive added a weaver rail on top of mine to add a micro dot down the road at some point but that thing is a tack driver. It shoots better that I will ever be able to.

Either one would be a great choice for a .22 postol though. So I dont think you could make a wrong choice.

    Buckmark is awesome too

I've shot both side by side, I'd like to get both of them, the buckmark seems like an awesome suppressor host too lol

I figure since I don't officaly become a Tacoma owner until friday when I pick it up, I figured I would hang out in the gun section for a while. Here is part of my collection.

Just to throw in my .2 why don't you get her a Ruger 10/22. The rifles are nice because you can customize them so much. You can get really nice stocks, nice sights, nice whatever and make it feel like "her" gun.

It's not a pistol but if you can get her to feel comfortable around a rifle it should be fairly easy to convince her to try out a hand gun.

It worked to get my GF to shoot full size rifles :D

Anyways my current collection is this:

    -x2 Ruger 10/22
    -SKS
    -Ruger Mark 77 tactical .308
    -Savage Axis .30-06
-A super old pump action Ruger .22
    -A Remington .30-06
    -Remington 870 Tactical

I would take pictures but I just put them all away after cleaning them and it's like playing tetris putting them in the safe haha.

Do you have any feeding issues with your SR22? My bullets are a bit loose in my mags and every once in a while a bullet will hang up and feed vertically. Seems like the magazine needs a shim to make the bullets stack better.

My thoughts exactly. Like a shim down the entire height of the mag along one side.

Her first ever reload a couple of years ago. Wasn't too bad but she is a lot faster and smoother now.

I started looking online, I'm surprised no one has made anything for it, even if they're replacement mags. Oh well, can't find .22LR around me anyways so it hasn't been shot in months :(

Nice posts Glockmaster. Thank you for sharing. Out of curiosity, does that G17 have the standard mag release? If so, might want to look into running a G34 mag release as it stands out from the frame a little bit more and makes releasing the mag much easier w/o having to 'roll' the gun in your grip. It may help her our or it may just be a repetition thing if you already have it in there. Just thought I would throw that out but given your screen name I'm going to assume you're already aware of this cheap/easy modification.

Can't find a reputable shop that will ship to MA. I know it can be found, I've seen it come up for sale on here also and a member was nice enough to offer to help me out and ship some to me. I'm sitting on about 1,500 rds now and will start shooting through it once things settle down and I can actually find .22LR ammo cheap again. I've got enough other things to keep me occupied in the mean time

The Glock extended mag release is too long so all my Glocks wear a Vicker's mag release.

Too long for what? I usually put them on all my Glocks (carry, competition, target, whatever) so I'm curious what you're using them for that it's too long.

Bought a proper target gun so I turned my Savage back into a close range varminter. Sighted in at 20 yds, it'll wreck anything that wanders into the back yard, and with the can, no one else has to know.

With the way I grip a pistol the Glock extended mag release tends to dig into my hand. The Vicker's is just a touch shorter and the edges are beveled which makes a huge difference when you're shooting all day.

I see. I've never had it get in the way so that's why I was wondering. I saw her struggle a little bit in that video clip and finally had to roll it in her hand to get a good enough angle which is why I suggested it. For most this small inexpensive change makes it so you don't have to change grip to positively engage the release.
