I have always bought my guns online and never had an issue, just make sure you fully inspect it at the shop before taking possession of it. I am all for giving local gunshops my business, but I can't afford to pay an extra $200 to do it.

Same here... I'm still pretty new to guns and the first 2 I bought, I bought brand new but they were cheaper guns (shotgun and a .22 pistol). Now, I'm looking to expand my collection and trying to pick up used guns, I've learned my lesson!

I know you didn't axe me but here goes anyway. XDs 9mm has a much better trigger and no manual safety to mess with or worry about activating accidentally if you don't use them. I like the aggressive grip on the XDs better too as it's better for a more positive grip on a smaller gun. To me my XDs just felt better in my hands than my Shield and I had other M&P pistols too. I also like the raised chambered round indicator on the XDs versus the visual indicator on the Shield (and other M&P handguns) as you can't 'see' a hole in the dark nor will you have time to verify in most SD situations. I prefer a chambered indicator I can feel like on a Glock or the XDs. I also happen to prefer the sights on the XDs to those of the Shield as well. Personal preference though. FYI, unless they've changed it the trigger on the XDs 45 is worse than the Shield. I think the new versions of the XDs 45 are getting the newer version of the trigger too so that may have changed by now. Truthfully though you can't really go wrong with either the Shield or XDs 9mm. Trying to compare is picking nits so grab them both and, even better, shoot them both if you can and decide which works best for you.

Sexy! I want to get an M1 from CMP soon, Im thinking next summer.

On a side note, I'm about to buy a Hungarian FEG PA-63 chambered on 9mm Makarov.everything I've ready says they are decent little guns but kick pretty good. It is a Walther pp clone. Anyone else have one?
