If you have any ideas about using that AR15 for defense purposes you'll want to relocate that light. Having it at 6 'o clock will cause an upward shadow starting at a potential bad guy's mid-thigh area. You may want to see what they're doing or who they are if you're pointing an AR15 in their direction.

Kinda depends on how far you are from your target and the shape of the reflector. But that's aside from the fact that anyone who would choose an AR for home defense when they have a shotgun at their disposal is in a fantasy world anyway:p

But yeah, 11 to 1 o'clock is generally ideal for light placement. I know because I play airsoft.

right haha, I sleep with a benchmade hatchet and an 870 next to my bed. No need to open the safe and bust out the AR. 00 buck does the trick.

I honestly am glad to see I'm not the only MP15-22 owner. I have hella different specialized firearms, yet the 15-22 gets the most use and most shits and giggles, and costs 1/10th as much to use. Loving all the pics guys. Tacomaworld would make a decent militia

What optic do you use on the mk12? I had been using a 3-15x50 ffp, but it's so damned heavy I had to switch it out for a 2.5-10x32 ffp.

Is the Rossi the middle one? I've been thinking of picking up a lever action just for kicks. Between a Rossi .357 or a Henry .22. Leaning towards the .22 due to ammo cost, but have heard those Rossi's are quite fun. Plus they are damn pretty.

Dude I agree, it is a great tool, I use it a lot to teach younger family members and girlfriends how to use the AR platform without wasting now precious ammo. I only wish Ca would allow me the use of a drum magazine =[

When I shoot it I use a leupold mark AR mod1 3-9x40, made for the AR platform and 5.56nato. I like it, if I were a less rational person I would drop a few thousand on the right scope for the mk12mod0. It is pretty light, ive also used the leupold vx-r on it, smaller but i like it a lot, neither really break the bank.

The small top lever gun is the Rossi, it is beautiful, small, light and deadly accurate. shoots 38/357 which is still pretty easy to find and somewhat cheap, it has a saddle ring on the receiver like a 1892 Winchester. The middle lever gun with the brass receiver and red wood is the HENRY, hands down the prettiest gun I own, the local gun shop has a factory engraved model I hope to pick up one day. It is a quality gun, the barrel bluing is amzing and it is a heavy octagonal barrel. Which means the .45 long colt feels like a .22. buy both you wont be disappointed.

There are a few points that validate his statement, 5.56 will travel through more walls than a home defense load 12ga, so someone with a family could potentially harm a family member. Also unless you are trained, for example military or police, a 12ga I would think would be better for home defense. point and shoot ya know? Not everyone is a SEAL.

Sorry but this is complete and utter BS. We've tested this 'theory' ourselves extensively years ago and since testing first-hand I prefer a 5.56 for home defense and most law enforcement agencies are going to them for entry teams as well for the same reasons. 5.56 will tumble almost the instant it hits the first sheet of drywall. This tumbling scrubes energy and it's actually MUCH less likely to travel through multiple sheets of dry wall carrying lethal momentum. Shotguns on the other hand will obliterate multiple (5+) sheets of drywall like it's nothing at all. The next urban legend is that you don't need to aim a shotgun. Most tactical length shotguns will shoot a nice tight group beyond the average defense engagement distance. The theory that you just point in the general direction, squeeze the trigger and not be concerned with what's on the other side of the walls past your target needs to be squashed before innocent people get hurt. After must ballistic testing there's a reason most entry teams run 5.56 and have for years. There's also the recoil differences to consider especially if a smaller loved one might have to deploy it. It has nothing to do with fancying yourself a Navy SEAL. No matter the system you need to train and familiarize yourself extensively with ANY weapon you plan to possibly trust your life and that of your loved ones to someday. I cringe when people talk about not needing to aim or worry about wall penetration especially as it pertains to shotguns.

Not really. I'm not interested in arguing with anyone who seems to fancy themselves an internet community firearms and tactics authority. I don't have the energy, and the last time I checked I saw no need to worry about the length of my dick. A shotgun will do just fine for home defense, thank you.

Who's arguing? I'm right. I don't 'fancy' myself anything other than someone who does my own testing when possible rather than parrot some incorrect bullshit I heard someone else say once that could get someone hurt or killed. If it wasn't for that last item I'd be content to sit quietly & let people say whatever they want regardless if accuracy.
