Megilly can you post a pic of your P226 next to/on top of a P229?

Right now I'm carrying a P226 since it's winter and its size can be easily hidden under heavy clothes, but I need something a little more compact for the warmer weather.

Once I sell my XDs I'll be looking for something double stack and a little taller (G19 sizeish) and according to Sigs website the 226 is only .1" taller than a 229 which just doesn't make sense to me.

They are not too much different, the 228/9 is thinner though.
    A p226 mag sticks out of a 228 about 1/4"

Put an E2 grip set on a p228 and it is thin and concealable (if you carry a 226 you should have no problem with a 228).

Sig also has a new compact P series which is similar to the Glock 26 in size.

I personally like smaller thinner pistols for summer carry, I keep hoping for a single stack Glock 9mm with Glock 26 footprint

I heard mixed reviews of the new P224 in .40 at least, haven't heard anything about the 9mm.

I have an XDs but it's TOO small for my hands, which is why I'm looking for a double stack--although I think that P239s are on the fatter end for single stacks, so that might work for me.

Define too small. I've got large hands & for the purpose of concealed carry it's just fine. If I ever need to use it comfort will be the least of my concerns.

When I grip my 226, it fills my hand and my finger is right where it's supposed to be on the trigger. No matter how hard I squeeze my hand the gun doesn't move.

When I grip my XDs, I have to think about how I'm gripping it and it never wants to stay, when I squeeze down on the grip the pistol will rotate right. It might just have to do with the fact that the grip doesn't have any palm swells to fill out my hand. (I can also reach the mag release on the left with the tip of my finger lol.)

My old CZ and my Sig feel like it was custom designed to fit my hand so I don't have to think about how I grip them and they're always in the right "spot." I want that in a carry gun, and with the XDs it just doesn't do that for me.

I mean if it feels weird it feels weird but this is pretty standard grip size for this segment of firearms. In fact, I felt that the XDs's aggressive diamond texture helped to make the grip more positive than that of it's competitors. I've got Shields too and to me they are more slickery and if you have wet hands (sweat, water, blood, whatevs) it's more difficult to keep a positive grip. I mean, it sounds like you don't really want/need this size firearm because it probably has one of the best grips overall of the segment. Obviously some concessions must be made in a carry weapon and I feel that for a hot day and minimal clothing (stop picturing me in less than pants!) this is one of the best but if weather/cover permit larger then of course a larger handgun is going to be better in just about every measurable way if you don't mind the additional weight. Along those lines the XDs is one of the best compromises in performance and conceal-ability but I get that it's not for everyone.

The 229 is shorter and a bit thicker.

Got a new toy this week, M&P full size .45. It's not a 1911 but so far I really like this gun. I'm getting my CCP next month and as much as I would like to carry this one, I think it's too big. I've been looking at the M&P Shield 9mm or the Rock Island 1911 compact, not really sure which one it will be. If I didn't have 3 sons in college, might be looking at the Kimber Master Carry Series. I've got 2 graduating this spring so I may have to buy myself a graduation gift.
