^^ How'd you get that? I'm finding I don't want that mag disconnect on my new Shield. Can file down the crappy round-in-the-chamber thing that sticks up.... I like your visual one instead.

No jig, me Garthwaite has then wire edm cut and they actually don't need much if any fitting because of the accuracy of an edm machine . Only thing I actually got of those 3 is the trigger. And it's still got a sweet trigger pull.

Visual chamber indicators don't do much good in the dark or when you can't otherwise see. I prefer tactile indicators. If the S is about to hit the fan & time allows I can reach down and feel that a round is chambered and ready to go before I even present my firearm. If it's dark (half of the day) I can feel it when I can't see it either.

^^ Hm. Good point - that's true. More guns than just the Shield has that? Do you use a mag disconnect? This is the first gun I've even used that has all of this extra safety.

Yes, several firearms use this form of chamber indicator. Glocks do as well for instance. As for the mag disconnect? Fuck that shit! I refuse to own firearms with such nanny features. Hell, I don't even like handguns with traditional safeties so all these other 'features' are just too much BS for a tool that should be simplistic. Personally, I don't see them as 'safety features' so much as crutches to prevent people from learning proper firearm safety.

Ha! Yeah, that mag disconnect can solidify a bad habit. I see what they're going for, buuuuut...... Thankfully it looks like it's an easy "fix" for me. :D My early Glocks (gen 2.5+) didn't have any chamber indicator. Must be the newer ones, yeah? M'eh. I won't file down mine yet. I thought all this extra crap was because I lived in CA and it was a generally new model.

I believe they were put into all Gen 3's and some of the LE Gen 2's have them as well. There are even kits you can do to the older ones to add it but for me if it doesn't have it it's not the end of the world. I prefer a press check over anything else anyway but it's a nice thing to have to quickly feel with your index finger before presenting a firearm if time permits. All of my handguns are carried chambered and ready to roll anyway so this extra step really isn't needed.

To check if your Glock has it though, chamber a round and feel the extractor alone the side of the slide right by the ejection port. It should be raised out from the slide a little bit when it's on a round and not when the chamber is empty. To me if I had to choose visual or tactile I'd choose tactile every time for the reasons mentioned earlier. Neither of which beats pulling back the slide far enough to see brass or touch brass in dark conditions and then pressing the slide back into battery. Again, just another 'tool' to prevent from learning something the proper way but if used in conjunction with good habits it can be a nice bonus.

I don't know much about watches but if he's taking the time to work on it, there's a good chance it's worth more than the Sig.

The watch is just something I have been playing with, and definitely not worth more than my Sig. Honestly, I was considering driving my truck over the watch since it was giving me headaches. Fortunately, I was able to sort it out and the "fifty paces" idea didn't come into my head.
But, I do have a crappy Rolex rep that could use a good send off. Hmm

I like the chamber indicators on the XD lineup, as well as the cocked indicator on back. Without even looking I know that my gun is loaded and racked and ready to roll.

And if anyone else in cali wants off roster stuff, my FFL can SSE any 9mm, 40sw, and 45acp stuff right now. Only 4 months left to get the good shit before its illegal.
