Nice! But you may wanna put a mag lock device before posting online... that could get you in hot water in cali. Technically that is an assault weapon without the lil bolt on mag device on trigger guard, and pop a tack weld on the flash suppressor/muzzle device, or that can be a felony. Great lookin gun tho.

I have a fixed stock, no flash suppressor/compensator (mine is a muzzle brake), kydex therefore it's not a pistol grip or thumb hole stock, 10 rounds mag , no grenade/flare launcher and no vertical foregrip therefore my AK is legal in CA without a bullet button as it's a 'Featureless' AK.

if that doesn't count as flash suppressor you are good then. I know if it has even just a flash suppressor you have to have the mag lock.

It's manufactured and sold as a brake:

My new toy I just bought will be gone for 3-6 weeks for repairs.

I did not pay attention to the sights was just too excited to get it. Make sure you look your guns over really well because Academy does not stand behind their products.

Front sight the bases rear bolt is drilled off center.
Rear sights base looks like one of the legs is shorter and the sights folding leaf is crooked because of this.

I honestly would expect more from Marlin. I would be embarassed as a company to sell that kind of stuff.

Yeah I called Academy the next day. They said it would have to be sent back to Marlin. I've spent 3hrs on hold trying to get them to send me a email so I can send it in for repairs. And they made sure I knew that if found that its something they don't cover I'd have to pay shipping both ways in order to get the gun back.

So I really don't want to send it. I'd rather Academy throw some new sights or scope on but they said once I leave the store I'm screwed. I'd never buy anything from them again.

yeah thats pretty bad on both companies, one for manufacturing a product with an obvious defect and not fixing it and the other for not fixing it when they sold it to you new. Definitely some good advice to look it over before you leave, but really you shouldn't have to do that stuff.

Was yours a display unit on the rack?
Reason I ask is that usually the guns are checked over when they're unboxed from the factory.

Of course, at a big box store, probably the lowest grunt on the totem pole is the one doing it, so...

I went to 3 different stores to find it. Yes it was the last one. I looked it over but I did not take aim with it. Don't like aiming at people. I know your suppose to aim at the gun case. Sales clerk looked it over too and it looked perfect not a scratch or anything.

Since it violates one of the gun safety commandments, that's good!

Like I edited above, I was just wondering if they'd unboxed and checked it before they put it on the rack. The local dealer that I frequent goes over everything with a fine-toothed comb when he gets a shipment in, because of stuff like misaligned sights or whatnot.

But like I said, big box store was probably the bottom grunt doing the checking, so I doubt he paid much attention.

Have you tried going directly thru the manufacturer? Did I overlook that? I won't shop at Academy

I did. After 3hrs total on the phone waiting for some one to pick up I finally got the email with the shipping info so I can send it in. But I really want that as my last resort. PIA

^This is pretty much the rule. Unless you want to pay a gunsmith fee.
