In NC we can carry loaded ARs that are not concealed in our vehicles. I do every day

That may be true, except for schools, riots, and other public areas. I lived in NC and know the laws there well. I don't think most police officers would give you too much trouble if you made a minor mistake though.

Schools -no go, riots I avoid, public areas - all damn day! Not on a sling walking around. I mean in the truck.

Here's my new manufacture Auto Ordnance Thompson M1. It is a short barreled rifle so I had to buy it on an ATF Form 4 - only took 6 months to process. I haven't shot it yet - will probably do that tomorrow. I've got a 120 yard range here on our property.

I've been really happy with it. still haven't run it in the long configuration as the short sounds good.

Sweet! I have both of those and they're both nice shooters.
If you ever upgrade the grips on that SR1911, I'll buy your factory ones. Mine came with a Hogue monogrip that fits like a glove but looks less than awesome

Since my SR1911 is mostly a safe queen (I only carry it on the rare occasion that I feel like lugging a rockchucker) I'd like the option of a prettier set of grips for range days.

I might get some black grips but I want to keep the wood grips too. I sold the wood grips on my 686 and now regret selling them.
