i've looked on thingiverse, stlfinder, and a few others. Everyone i tried has interiors when you zoom in which ends up creating islands that can't be supported.

Could you post a screenshot of the model your trying to work with if you end up not finding any other suitable models? You could always seal the model up by making a few extrusions to form windows. You'll still end up with an interior, but it'll be hidden inside the model.

sealed model, but still has an interior. Trust me, it'll still attempt to print the interior.

Is it just a matter of how long it will take to print? The outside should look the same either way since the outside is solid. You could always go nuts with extrude "to next" on all of the big flat surfaces inside like the roof, windows, floors, and doors to fill in as much of that space as reasonably possible. Or maybe try some boolean modeling? Make a "cast" of the car by subtracting the model out of a block, then make the solid car by deleting the interior chunk and subtracting your casting block (minus interior) from another solid block. Hopefully that made some sense.

You would have to delete that chunk, but what's left should leave you with a solid cast.

print time isn't an issue. what ends up happening is that it requires support inside and some of the area that needs supporting can't be supported for various reasons. Now, if the model was one solid chunk without voids it wouldn't need the impossible supports. Hopefully that made sense. Printing this on a photon mono X BTW

Could you upload the file, or post where you got it? I'd like to try to mess with it a bit if I can.

If you're using Cura, make sure you're set up to allow support anywhere on the model, not only on the build plate.

I appreciate the suggestions. I've been printing for awhile and understand the software... especially the supports. Know that there are limitations and far better slicers. The game really changes when you move into resin printing. Things get crazy

Create a cube model, import both delorean and cube into slicer, scale and place the cube so that it is not visible from the outside but fills the interior, and hit slice. The slicer will combine the models and make the interior solid.

Apparently I get to print a new fan bracket, duct, and buy a new bltouch. With only 8 hours to go on a 90 hour print...:frusty:PXL_20210618_210544533.jpg

I would love to get this file from you. Preferably sldprt or step if you are willing. Was looking at making my own buy having the overall dimensions done already is appealing!

Not good. Keep running into speed bumps, and every time I think I got them all worked out reality proves me wrong. Got one printing now though, if all goes well it will be done in 2 more days.
