I just ordered an elegoo mars 3 resin printer and the mercury x wash and cure station. I have been looking at one for awhile.

Thinking it may be a better option for a project I have in mind. Besides, there are some cool mini's out there that would be fun to paint and stick on the shelf.

Finally installed the switch panel i printed. Theres a 3d printed backing plate supporting the screws in the headliner but its my first time using printed in threads.

Trial by fire on how they hold up over time.

My first resin print mostly turned out. learning chitubox and getting used to its support settings is gonna take some more time. but I am pretty impressed by the finish quality. The prints where much softer than I expected and resulted in several parts being damaged during support removal, after two 3 min curing sessions, the parts seemed a lot more firm and solid, but they still sanded really easy. Which has me wondering if they are in fact fully cured.

I am looking forward to using this printer more, and seeing what it can do.

RJ45 Switch blank, so I can install my GMRS under the seat and run a cord for the microphone behind the dash. Now to figure out how to paint and texture to better match the dash...

Took a bit of touchup to get the blanks to seat all the way into the @MESO overhead switch panel I used for test fitment

    20220319_220112.jpg

you can see the pock marks left by the supports.. But I laid the parts out so the face would avoid supports an come out clean.

Today I resliced the part, and reduced the layer cure time, and went with the automatic supports. this time the supports broke off much easier and much cleaner. after the final sanding and cleanup I stuck them in the sun for a bit and that seemed to take care of the "damp plaster feeling" the parts had.

Found some fine texture matte black spray paint at a big box store, So I picked up a can and gave the switch blanks a painting.

While it is not a perfect match, It does match pretty well, and would pass the casual glance.

I haven't played with it personally, but some slicers have a "fuzzy skin" feature. It gives outer perimeters a texture. It is supposed to be really good for things like handles.

It’s for my mic handset for my ham radio, makes it easy to tuck away when I am not using it.

The GMRS radio I use has an RJ45 connecti9n for the nicrophone. This will let me hde the radio and still have access via a standard cat5 cable and being able to hide the microphone is a bonus

After being lost in transit 3 times over the last 9+ months, I finally got my hands on the end all be all of fans. 33cfm @ 8kpa. Had to get a larger power supply because the thing can draw 10 amps and spins up to 29k. It blows my beard at arms length the equivalent of riding a bike down the highway at 65mph. I think it will be powerful enough to cool my parts, now I just have to figure out how to mount it... 5015 for scale.PXL_20220331_020000850.MP.jpg

I printed some spacers for the bracket holding the parking brake cable to get it further away from my leaf springs where they had almost rubbed through.

This is the first parts I've printed for the truck since getting my printer. It's PLA for now until I reprint it in PETG.

I bought the model file from someone on Etsy for $9. It looks like they aren't selling anything right now though. I'm sure there are others out there.
