Question for you gurus, what % infill should I use for an air intake adapter, that a hose clamp would tighten down on? And cheapest recommended material? From research the part would need to withstand a max of 200*F. Quote from craftcloud is looking at $68 with 20% infill for polycarbonate material

Depends on a few things, like wall thickness, layer height, print orientation, and overall part size. PC should be fine at those temps. I'm assuming the clamped hose could end up putting a bending force on the piece too, as it bounces around. Without knowing those variables, I would still steer you closer to 35-50% infill just to be sure it is plenty strong.

That being said, $68 is a lot of money for a piece of plastic. I'm tuning my printer now to be able to handle PC.

If anyone here has an aftermarket double DIN head unit and the Scosche installation kit I made a replacement for the snap-in rectangular plastic trim piece. The Scosche part never really fit right and would not stay in place without mounting tape, which in my case interfered with the Pioneer NEX motorized faceplate. Been annoying me for years, not sure why I didn't think of this sooner. This part fixes that problem and prints without supports.

Thanks! Ya and that's basically the cheapest quote I can easily get online for it. I tried asking a local place first and they quoted... $200 for PLA print after I asked what the cheapest the could do was. First quote they said $350 for abs print. hard pass

Such is the nature of getting one-off parts manufactured from these kind of shops. In the grand scheme, $68 isn't much, but owning a 3d printer has totally skewed my perception of getting custom/prototype components made haha

Testing a shift knob to hopefully replace the stock one. Nobody really makes a knob that really works with the interior better than stock, but I also would like something a bit better.

Not entirely sure, but it came out pretty nice. Going to tweak the shape in two areas and print it again before experimenting with wrapping the leather.

Will probably make it out of steel if I like it in the end. This is quite a bit lighter than stock and I prefer the weight for shifter feel.

I finally got back to making adapters to more easily fit up a brake power bleeder, like a Motive, to our master cylinders rather than use the PITA universal one with the chains. My previous design never worked consistently so it was back to the drawing board.

I use this as an air source only, not to actually transfer fluid. The whole idea is to make it work with a screw on cap so the MC can easily be refilled as you do the job. The second adapter will also work this way by opening the clamp and removing the adapter temporarily. Files here:

For those of you that are designing your own files to print from. What software are y’all using? Just got a small fdm printer for more smaller use, looking to do my own create. I have tried blender any others that y’all suggest

I like fusion360 but have also used tinker cad and free cad. All 3 should do what you need, 360 is just the easiest for me.

If you're doing work that can be divided down into squares, tubes, spheres, and triangles, don't sleep on tinkercad. Surprisingly useful for little things and it's nice that it's web based.

I use OnShape. I work off of multiple computers sometimes, across Windows, Mac, and even a Chromebook, so Onshape's free browser based model has worked well for me to be able to work on stuff or view my files regardless of what's in front of me.

It's not as feature rich as Fusion360, but it's pretty close. Steep learning curve if you haven't worked with other CAD software though. I used to use SketchUp before it was bought out and they stopped supporting some platforms, but that was easy to learn and use.

    Another way to do it
Power Probe makes a Toyota adapter, model BA10

problem is the end of Motive is a barb, tube, crimp, holding on in my case, European adapter
while the BA10 comes with an air/pneumatic-style of quick connect fitting, that is what certain bleeders use.
I need to figure out how to convert the Motive to use that, to make it connectable to the BA10.
I know it's possible as this is exactly how my old co-worker's bleeder was set up, that I had borrowed before and used successfully. With his various tools being set up the quick connect of style, it allowed exactly that, quick connect ability to swap out between different adapters based on which make of vehicle the tool was being used to bleed

I'm currently using Fusion360. I use 2D CAD a lot at work so I am familiar with some of F360 already. F360 definitely takes lots of practice but it's amazing. You can get it for free if you are a student or just for hobby use.
I used to use Sketchup and I really liked it for simple designs. I think F360 is the way to go for more complex designs.
    Never tried TinkerCAD.

Custom parts like this can take a lot of time to design and get a working part that fits correctly. $50 would get you about an hour of design time at most, not including materials and print run time, unless you get someone that wants a time filler project.

Planning on designing and building something like this for my 2nd gen, and also designing pods that will mount under my bed rack and angle the light out the back of the bed. Ordered the actual lights today, so I can start measuring and designing. I'm debating if I should just lose the third brake light altogether in favor or a bed light, or add some small, round, red LEDs. I've had three situations in a couple weeks where having the bed lights would have been great.

i really wish my brother-in-law didn't live to far away i want to build something like this for my truck topper, just a simple couple of red LED for the high mount stop, and an amber and white strobe option for desert or snow.
