I have not wheeled in Idaho, but if there are a lot of obstacles to go over/around I would advise getting armor and good tires then build the suspension you want with the knowledge of the armor etc on the truck. I should have followed my own advise, but I had broken suspension parts so that is why it went first. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you! im still working on that deep pocket issue, off to a good start tho ;)

Idaho was great but didnt live there long, just long enough to buy the truck really, living in Seattle right now so obstacles include: some honda or prius making poor choices, uber/lyft driver parked in the street, people walking on the do not cross...
Really appreciate the advice tho! Ive been driving backcountry my whole life but never had the chance to build out my own setup.

    Question for you guys:

Are there any performance/mechanical upgrades or mods worth considering before suspension?
Wheels and tires first > then bumpers fenders and topper > then suspension? Ill be mod-ing some minor things along the way like mirror swap, overhead console has a leak and fried the component, swapping out the non bluetooth receiver, usb charging, second battery, the gambit... just curious if there is something i haven't found on here yet worth implementing. thanks!

Finally got my Taco heading in the right direction. 2012 MGM 6-speed that I picked up a couple months ago. It was already lifted, so I tinted the front windows to match the back, did a full detail in and out, and scored some wheels with almost new BFG 285s on FB marketplace.
