FYI-The plastic tab that holds the top to the metal mount on the rear of the bed has separated on mine. So far www.autoplicity.com has been willing to work with me on a warranty claim since the top is only five months old. Looks like they'll have to replace the fabric canopy.

See my sig for my Bestop. I bought mine off of Amazon, it was free shipping.

I wanted a bed rack level wiht my factory roof racks that was inside the rails of the bed. Fiberglass shells are typically flush with the outside of the bed, but the softops are not. My setup looks awesome.

That rack is super cool, it took me a second to focus in on it. Got any close ups of it or a build thread. Thanks

I do have a couple build pics somewhere. Here are a couple with my roof top tent and also the woodstrip canoe I made.

    Thinking about getting one.
That said, how hard is it to see inside bed, for security reasons? some pictures on here windows are clear others look tinted, is that an option?

    thanks in advanced

It depends on the ambient lighting. The Bestop will keep honest people honest.

The things that you have in the bed aren't going to be very noticeable or obvious from more than 10 feet away during the day (unless your looking for something). At night you would need to be very close to see what's inside.

However, as it's been said before, if somebody really wants to steal what's in there, it wont keep anyone out, but it certainly acts as a good deterrent.

I had 4 snowboards, 2 sets of skis, plus a ton of people's luggage in mine last weekend. I wouldn't leave the truck in public for too long, but I felt 10x more comfortable walking into a store with the stuff covered, vs being easily visible in the bed.

Edit: I'm pretty sure the bestops for our truck all come with the same tint.

Or you can hook up one of these to your alarm :D

It won't deter a determined thief, but if you run out to the store or someone's house, you'll have some piece of mind that you'll know when your tailgate opens

    That's a great idea.

Unfortunately I think I would forget about it all the time and set it off every day.

Another option to think about for added security would be to add a Pop&Lock. It still wont completely stop someone, but it would make it more difficult.

Get the pop&lock electric one. Locks/Unlocks with the doors. Sits inside the tailgate, so no outward facing lock to pry open.

I just picked this one up last Friday. I found it on craigslist. It has the windows but it was too cold yesterday to strech the top to fit them in, I needed about another 1/4 in. I can't wait to try it out this summer. Now I just need to get off my butt and build a removeable bunk / storage for the bed.

Would like to get one of these at some point as my wife likes to ride in the tacoma better than the silverado i had to go on trips. Can you go on the interstate with the windows in? I dont want it to fly off. Are they sturdy and what about rain if we get in a rain storm riding with the top on?
