I'm surprised that people think the stated tire size will be the measurement to the top of tire with the tire mounted and the truck's weight on it

Yeah, I was talking about 255/85r16, cause I am pretty sure they don't make a 255/85r17, but I'm sure I could be wrong.

    Yeah, and so does Chux

I know that basically they are the same size, just different rim size

This is starting to look like the duratracs thread, without the complaining from the tires being hard to balance. Did anyone have any issues with balancing? I did with my duratracs but not with these

Can you compare the Duratrac vs the ST Maxx for ride and road noise? Thanks

My tire shop said my tires balanced great, and credited it to my wheels. Thanx to Vin at SCSI for a great wheel!

I have no experience with duratracs but have read a lot about how they cannot compare to the Maxx. First hand experience with the Maxx, and I can tell you there is minimal road noise. One of the great things I love about them as my truck is my daily driver.

I'm with Chux, no experience with Duratracs but I can NOT hear my tires at all. Cruising down the highway even at 80mph can't hear them.

I have the goodyear authorities, which are very similar to the duratracs. I drive mostly hwy and they are a little loud for my taste. They aren't bad below 60, but start getting loud as you approach 70.

Getting 31's. And I work landscaping, so we mow for the guy that owns the tire shop. I feel he's doing me a bit of a favor with the price, everywhere else I called I was priced $180/tire, and around $750-760 out the door, and his price was right at $700 out the door and $165/tire.

No personal experience with the Duratracs. But I do have the ST Maxx in the 255/80 like Chux and Teneighty. The ride is very smooth for an E load tire. I can definitely hear mine while driving. I'd say they are quiet for the type of tire they are, but they certainly produce some road noise.
For a heavy tire they do seem to be easy to balance, but mine are also on SCS wheels :) Thanks Vin!

I actually think the ST Maxx is a more quiet tire. I can't compare ride though, I had a stock truck with duratracs vs my truck with ome 884s and these tires. The ride feels more stiff compared to when I had the duratracs, but I'm sure that has to do with the suspension as well as the load E tire.

Yeah mine seem to have balanced nicely, but I think they are right, has to do with our SCS wheels. My duratracs were hard to balance, pretty sure it was a combination of the tires and the pro comp wheels I had.

The reason they balance well is Cooper tires are made so well, and are put together with rubber that's usually right on for the specs, and go through a balance machine at the factory... So that all helps, Goodyear workers must not take pride in their tires they build...at Cooper us workers take pride and strive to deliver outstanding products...

I'm surprised. I can't hear them over the wind noise at any speed. Everyday I get in and drive I'm so surprised at how smooth and quiet they are.
