    How deep is the sipping on these tires. I'm concerned about icy road conditions and road noise anyone care to comment.

    I have over 60k miles on my Maxx Load E at this point. So far they have been great off road, no issues except one time when I buried my truck in sand in Moab (totally my fault, no tire would have helped me in that situation lol). Road noise has steadily increased as the tires have aged; they are fairly loud at this point on the highway. They still do pretty decent in snow and ice but I can definitely tell they getting close to needing of replaced. Hoping to get another six months out of them and get new wheels and tires this fall.

    Looking at 255/75R17 for my 17" stock rims on a 2.5" lift with LR UCA's. I want to keep to keep my mud flaps. rub? or no rub?

    You shouldn't rub with that setup. I've never heard of that size though.

    255/75R17: It's an S/T Maxx but C-rated. I only occasionally go off-road (and not loaded down much), and I am hoping to get a smoother highway ride than an E-rated. I like the look to the Maxx.

    It's a good tire. I've enjoyed them. With the 255/85r16 I had to loose my front mud flaps.

    Yeah, for 17" rims, I think the 255/80R17 is where one has to start trimming....So I went down to the 255/75R17.

    Do you know what the 255/75/17 measure in real life? Cooper's website says they're smaller than the 265/70/17, but if my understanding of tire sizes is correct, they should be slightly bigger in the 75 vs 70 sidewall size.

    255 ...width
    75 .....aspect ratio
    17......rim size

    (255 x 0.75 / 25.4(mm->in) x 2 ) + 17 = 32.06"

    (265 x 0.70 / 25.4(mm->in) x 2 ) + 17 = 31.61"

    This is how it is typically calculated but there is a slight variance between manufacturers.

    No I don't know. Tire calculator says one thing (31.61" for 265 and 32.06" for the 255), but Cooper web site (31.85" for 265 vs 31.77" for the 255) says the other. I would tend to believe Cooper ste over the generic calculator. With the 265, I didn't go with those because of the E-rating. I wanted the C-rating.

    Edit: Just put my order in to Amazon...$800 delivered....not sure if it was a good price or not. :confused:

    Yeah, I consulted the tire size calculator (255's larger) and the Cooper website (265's larger). That's why I figured I'd ask, because logically a 75 series would be larger than a 70 series due to the added sidewall height. But with more wheeling planned I may have to go 265's to get the E-rated sidewall.

    I've been thinking about the same size 255/75/17 on my stock Tacoma. My mud flaps came off the first week I had the truck, I backed over a snow bank and that was the end of them. For what I understand this tire will fit with minimal rubbing without a lift so lifted should be no issues. Just don't back over obstacles and you should be able to keep your mud flaps. $200/ tire seems on the high side but not by much so I wouldn't sweat it.

    About to pull the trigger on 285 75 16. The 255 and 285 are so close in diameter that I would be just fine keeping the 255 as a spare under the truck right?

    Yuh.

    But in the event you have to use it...put it on the rear. It'd make your front end steer funny

    Okay so. Can anyone explain to me this pulling that everyone talks aboot with these tires. I've tried all sorts of alignment settings and even put more psi in the passenger front tire that the driver front tire and if I let go of the wheel the truck starts to vier to the right. Starting to think it's the pull some people claim these tires have:notsure:

    I have been debating this as well, I was going to use camber though.

    The cross camber has to be more then.5 degree, positive or negative. I just need to figure out what I need.
