I can't run mine any higher than like 35, the ride is way too stiff any higher. 32-33 is perfect for me.

truck_stmaxx.jpg here are my ST-Maxx..... 255-80R17. I got them two months ago. I love them. Probably a bit thin for most tastes but this is the look I love. I have no problem with pull left/right... they drive awesome.

I'm REALLY tempted to get these. Unlike most 255's, these don't look like pizza cutters. I have these in 285's on an older set of rims, and they performed very well.

I was curious also. Seems they are 17x7 +15. Not sure what model they normally come with.

Edit: I think they are 4Runner wheels

Dooiett. I went from 255/80/17 to 255/80/17 to 285/75/17. Really don’t ever plan on getting a different tire tho.. Ask @Nimble9 how it is going from 285 to 255s, he’s got first hand experience

I went from 305/60R18 Terra Grapplers to 285/75R16 Maxx's. I just put on a set of 285/70R17 Grappler G2's. They don't really feel much different than the old 305s. The only thing I like about the G2's is that they offer a slightly softer ride over the Maxx.

I haven't experienced the pulling or squishy feeling with my 285 Maxx's. Is the more likely to happen with 255's?

I went from 33x12.5x17 Cooper STT MT's to the 255/80/17. What a difference! Better MPG, better Street-ability, much more quiet as well.

They are 4 Runner wheels. I think around 2011ish. I got them off Craigslist for $325. I really like the brushed look although they would be awesome if the were smokers.

I agree. I went from 285/70R17 to 255/80R17 and immediately noticed a huge difference for the positive.... the truck felt more responsive and steered easier.

I took care of rub when I went from stock to 285. I had to remove the mud flaps and cut away a small amount of the inner wheel well plastic (area near the fog lights). Going to the 255 did not make things worse.... I would bet I could put the mud flaps back on. (Note I have a 2.5 lift).

I'm about to purchase a set of 255/85/16 ST Maxx's for my 2017 DCLB off road- stock suspension and rims. I've been searching and reading loads of posts/threads, and it sounds like there are some folks that have also tossed 255/85/16 ST Maxx's on their 3rd gen off roads and have had little to no rubbing. I'm not afraid to do some massaging or even a CMC, if necessary, but I'd like to know as much up front before I purchase the tires.

Sooooo, who's running the 255/85/16 ST maxx's on their 3rd gen? Any rubbing? Have you done any mods to make them fit? Pics are also great.

There is a thread in the 3rd gen forum for this topic. The consensus is that they won’t rub at all if you are on stock suspension.
