Local prices for 255/85/16 and 265/75/16, haven’t decided which.

Haven’t got a chance to check the internet too much. Are there better prices out there?

I checked Discount in prep for my 255/85/16's later this year and the 16's were about $50 more than the equivalent 17's. Odd considering when it comes to 265's the 17's are far more expensive.

Finally got to test the 255/85/16s in legit mud. They did everything i asked them to do and the only reason i got stuck was because i forced myself to. They clear mud fast as hell and I’m even more happy with my decision going with them.

I want these so bad. But they're so expensive. Once I sell my Bakflip I'll be getting a set for sure.

First time in some real mud conditions, so much better traction than the KO2'S I had.

Is the ride harsh with the 255/80/17 Maxx - E rated

Would the 255/75/17 in C be a better trade off??

I’m on a 285/75/16 e rated tire and for the last weeks it’s ridden better then my c rated 265/75/16

Really, do you think most who say E is too harsh are being melodramatic? I don't have much experiences with many tires so I don't know what to consider.

E rated just feels more firm, and not as cushy as lower ply tires. C load are the middle of the road, a great balance of durability and ride quality. E rated are overkill for a lot of people imo, and are pretty heavy, just depends on what you are using them for. From softest to firmest (also lightest to heaviest) P (passenger), C , D, E. There are several others in between these, but these are the most popular loads.

My 275/70/17 E rated are pretty comfortable aired at 32 rear and 35 front. At 37 all around and 40 all around they were too harsh.

I had 265/75r16 load range C Duratracs. Went to 285/75r16 load range E Cooper STT PRO's. Duratracs had to have 38 psi.... Coopers need only 30psi because they are a stiffer sidewall. End result? The load range E tires ride BETTER than the C's. I understand they aren't Maxx's....Still....

Yes they are.... I had P tires at 265/70/16 and these ride better (I have the 285/75/16 E) . Feels more like a truck and more grounded on the road. A little more noise than the P's Hankooks however, nothing that the radio can't fix.

My 285/75r16s were a little harsh at first, then I realized I had too much air pressure in them. Ride was much better after I lowered the air pressure.
