You can add me to the list of people running 255s with no cutting, trimming, hammering, CMC, etc. No rubbing even at full lock and full stuff.

31.6" versus 33.1...little over 1" actually. But I guess it depends on which exact tire sizes we're talking about

Since it's a circle mounted in the center, you take the difference in diameter divided by 2 to determine how much more clearance you get. So if the overall diameter is 1 inch more, you gain 0.5 inches of clearance.

As you know, you cannot go 100% by the tire size numbers because each manufacturer will have a slightly different overall diameter and width.

    From Cooper:

    235/85 r16: Overall Diameter: 31.97"

    265/75 r16: Overall Diameter: 32.01"

    255/85 r16: Overall Diameter: 32.8"

    285/75 r16: Overall Diameter: 32.91"

Same for Me...I had 265/75/16 Duratracs in C, I went to STT Max 265/75/16 E and the ride was the same if not smoother/softer..and I got better gas mileage. I wish people would stop perpetuating this myth of E rated tires that are a few pounds heavier are going to throw off your mileage or ride hard. People act as if Load Rate E tires are as stiff as run flats. If you are that worried about weight, don't fill the gas tank all the way up. A size change will mess up your mileage, but not a couple of pounds

    1" diameter = 1/2" radius......1" taller tire nets 1/2" more clearance.

Seldom if ever do any of these tires actually inflate to size the manufacturers specs. Close, but usually a tic under size they list.

    And then they wear....

The "C vs E" battle varies from brand to brand...

I can run 8psi lower on my Es than with the C Duratracs. That "real time" difference makes em ride better.

Rules are meant to be broken.

Thanks for the kind words. The 235’s work damn good with my stock gear ratio, though I love how 255's look.

Anybody in here who is on their 2nd set or more, how many miles are you getting before having to replace them? I have about 12k on mine so far, hoping to get at least 50k.

I’m going to have to replace mine before winter so they’ll have about 40k on them. At 50k mine would be race slicks.

Same. I would love to get 255s but the Tundra is still on Tow duty for the next few years. 235s are a great compromise.

I don’t think there is that much difference between 235 and 255 weight wise is there?

I wouldn’t say a lot. Probably 5 or 6 times a year. These tires are a lot softer compound than most. I’ve seen some guys only get 30k out of them. I also rotate them regularly.

Just put on a set of 265/70/17s. They are super smooth and quiet coming from General AT2s. They are pulling me right though. I see that a caster adjustment might fix it, but it seems more like a bandaid to an unknown problem. Has anyone really nailed down a cause? TIA.

Hearing these comments is the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on these.

Some have said that it's a tread pattern thing, but then why don't they pull right for everyone? Is this only with certain PSI?
