So got about 1000 miles on mine. 255/85-16. Wearing great, best tire I've had on this particular truck in the snow, quiet as all hell on the road, great in the rain, and did a 2 hour trip last Sunday and were great on the highway. My only complaint is they don't handle like my old 285/75-16 but that's only a factor when I'm driving wayyy faster than I should be. Going on my first wheeling trip with them in two days so I'll report back with trail performance.

    Today

    Cooper 265/75 16
    2015 Silver Sky Metallic
SCS F5 4.5 BS matte gunmetal.
    Thanks, Vin. Awesome.

    Now for the lift, LOL.

Shocked at how much the stock Dunlop AT20 Grandfucks were a contributor to horrible ride. The sidewalls were like paper, for one. These are so much better already on stock suspension.

Spec on this size Cooper as measured and weighed during install:
    Cooper ST Maxx 265/75 16 = 55 lb
Diameter mounted on wheel inflated to 32 psi off truck: 31 and 13/16 in. This had been in the sun for a little while.
EDIT: above measurement corrected once home more accurately.

The generic tire calculator indicated 31.65. That is way off. I measured three times. These just tap the the inner mudguard at full lock. Perfect for me and the future ~2 in. lift.

wow, I thought it was listed at 32.01" on a 7.5" rim? 30.5" seems really off.

Yep, that is the spec on the Cooper site.

    Discoverer ST MAXX

Mine's an SCS F5 8 inch wheel, which can't make that much difference. I was shaking my head and measured it three times, being careful to line up my tape measure across a pair of the six lug bores to make sure I was on the actual diameter. I eyeballed as best I could out to the middle of the tread. Perhaps I am completely high, but that is a significant difference.

I need to drop the spare to do some other stuff, so I will check it again more carefully on the garage floor with some squares as references off of the tread.

anyone else here run into the same problem? I was thinking about these same tires (265's) but not if they're gonna measure small. I've read that Coopers are one of the few to measure true to size. I was kinda torn between ST Maxx and STT Pro's... now I'm wondering if I wanna get Coopers at all o_O

I just had my 265/75/16 S/T Maxx mounted last week. Mounted on the vehicle mine measure 31.25" with 38 psi. I would imagine there is a slight sag/compression with the weight of the truck and they would probably measure out to 31.50 or 31.65 as reported if you laid the tire/wheel on the floor.

So I took my tires on there big test run yesterday. 255/85-16 aired down to 15psi. We've had a lot of rain here on the east coast the past two weeks so everything was sloppy to say the least. Even trails that are usually dry has water runnin down them. Going threw mud wasn't a problem these tires cleaned out with very little throttle input. Now I know different types of mud or mud up to the bumpers is a different story but what I was dealing with they were great. They held traction on off camber situations great too. Also they gripped rocks like a dream. The tires were wet literally all day but I never had a problem finding traction on the rocks. My previous tires were fierce attitude m/t in 285/75-16. I'm not sure if size matters (lol) because these maxxs are different but I'd be willing to say these tires out performed them.

OK, had a chance to measure again at home with as much accuracy as possible.

Revised diameter measurement in earlier post: 31 13/16ths. Pretty much on the money, nearly 32s. Get a tiny bit of rub at full lock on inboard OEM mudguard mount.

Mine were within a quarter inch of advertised height as well... not sure why people measure the tire height after it's on their truck, then moan that it's not as tall as it should be:crazy:

Many many many people demonstrate again and again that they simply don't comprehend how to eliminate, or account for, variables.

Well, after almost 6 months of nothing but hesitation about this tire - the 255/80R17 - I'm getting a set put on Friday. Like a lot of guys around here, I've been very reluctant to slap 58lb tires on a daily-driver Tacoma. I know all the theory. But, yet, here's almost 100 pages of nothing put praise for these things. And as far as the size goes, and the off-road capability, it's exactly what I've been wanting in a tire. So I'll give them a shot. My tire shop said that if after 4 days I really, really don't like them, I can swap them out for something else. So I don't have a whole lot to lose.

I'll give my overly-critical first impressions next week.

Excited to finally be part of the family!

I put the same size on my daily driver over 2 years ago and never looked back. I was so happy with my decision I started this thread to spread the word to the masses. Good luck, you won't be disappointed.

You will love them. I had big concerns about going to an E sidewall and much heavier tire. I have no regrets so far on my DD.

I just went from stock tires and suspension to these. Big increase in weight, also huge increase in handling and ride quality over the horrid Dunlops (I see you have ATMs now).

    From
    OEM Offroad alloy 22.4 lb
    Dunlop AT Grandtreks 245/70 r16 30.8 lb
Total wheel weight excluding balancing weights and TPMS valves: 53.2 lb

    To
    SCS F5 4.5 BS model, 19 lb.
Cooper S/T Maxx 265/75 r16 55lb (includes balancing weight and TPMS valves)
Total wheel weight including balancing weights and TPMS valves: 74 lb

Weight increase over stock: 20.8 lb/wheel

    Go forth and conquer!

Anyone in AZ or coming to AZ with a used 255/85/16 they want to get rid of? I recently bought a set of 4. Figured it wouldn't be hard to pick up a used tire somewhere for my spare but I was wrong. Can't find one anywhere.

    55 lbs for the 265/75/16?!?

1010tire.com has these listed at 46lbs and 31.6"
was you weight with it installed on a wheel?

The 285/75/16 is listed at 55lbs and 32.8"

Yep. Note my corrections, too. Tire only. That was on my bathroom scale at the tire shop just before install. Not a calibrated scientific instrument, but I'm sure it is +/- 1 lb max. for accuracy. I did this specifically because I had heard so much confusion and variation on this issue and what Cooper lists on their site.

Installed on a lightweight SCS F5 wheel (19 lb) as stated above, 74 lb total per corner.

Diameter was double checked at home with higher accuracy on the spare at 31 13/16 in. (~31.75) at 32 psi and after sitting in the sun a bit on the patio.
