This set in 285/70r17 has 35K miles on in. They've done really well in every condition I've had a chance to try them.

After 2 years on 265/75r16 load range C Goodyear Duratracs, I recently switched to 285/75r16 load range E Cooper STT Pro's. My initial reactions were how quiet the STT Pro's are compared to the Duratrac. Those Duratracs are what is considered a "hybrid" tread....in between an A/T and a M/T. The STT Pro is a full blown mud tire. By all theories, the Coopers SHOULD have been louder. Not so. Also, going from a "C" to and "E" rated tire, I was prepared for a rougher ride. Not the case. I had to run 35psi in the Goodyears for decent road handling. I run 29psi in the Coopers. The end result is a better, smoother ride. I now have close to 3000 miles on them. (Took a couple long road trips shortly after making the change) The good things I had to say about the STT Pro's are now GREAT comments. The more I get to know them, the more I like them. I've convinced 3 friends to go with 'em! Nothing too drastic yet, but they have been off road a couple times. 100% impressed!

2-1/2" of front lift, a CMC, and some minor trimming and they clear by a mile! I lost about 1-1/4mpg on the highway (from 265's, adjusted mileage for increased tire size) All my skepticism went right out the window! I'm very pleased!

Wow what a difference some new tires make. The stock highway tires were almost usless when I left the pavement. Today some 255/75r17 Cooper STT Pros were installed on some grey SEMA 4runner rims. I had to take them off road to pop their cherry and I have no complaints. They give the truck a completely different looks and dang, these SEMA rims look good! Right now ive only used about a third of a tank of gas since installing them and cant really tell what ive done to the mpg's. Here's a pic of beautiful central Texas.

They're alright for a mud terrain. ST Maxx's are certainly better in snow from what I've experienced.

I went with the Coopers over the General's because of weight and because they have more sipping for wet/snowy weather.

I paid 806$ delivered to my door for some 255/75r17's. I dont recommend either option there but I dont know squat about General tires, so I wouldnt use em.

And they work like a charm! First real off road test. We went to Slade Kentucky (Near Natural Bridge State Park) on April 1st. Monsoon rains just before we hit the trails. VERY wet, slick, and a lot of standing water on a trail that isn't ordinarily that wet. We kept moving and didn't take a lot of pictures, but here is what I have. Ran 'em side by side with another Tacoma with KM2's and another with KO2's. None of us had any problems, but I did less spinning on the slick spots. They performed better than expected. 10 out of a possible 10!
