In the first set of images, the road bends to the left at least 150 yards down the street. As you can see, we lit that distance up pretty well.

    Hey y'all,

I purchased a pair of ssc2 to use as such lights on my 17 tacoma. I would like to get a oem style skinny/ tall 3 way or dual function switch and wire it up to the dd heavy duty harness. Has anyone done this, can someone provide me with information on how I can get this done?

So I purchased a set of ss3 fog lights, they have the backlight function, I am wondering what wire from the DRL that I need to tap into to power the backlight? I have a 2018 sr5 so it doesn’t have led headlights and I can turn the DRLs on and off. It looks like on the driver side DRL there is a white/black, pink, and pale orange wire, on the passenger side there are two shades of blue wires and a white black. Also seen people say they taped both sides into the driver side DRL, anyone know a reason as to why this is better? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Are you looking to use them as fog lights or auxiliary high beams? If they are the SAE Fog light beam pattern then you would just simply replace your OEM fog lights with these and use the OEM wires and switch to turn them on. If you want them on all the time, search for "fog light anytime mod". This makes your fog light turn on with the OEM switch anytime you want and works independently of your other lights.

If they are aux high beams, then you can purchase a switch that looks OEM from CH4x4.com or many other places and wire it just like the instructions that DD supplies except using the switch of your choice.

Your best bet is to either wire it to a wire that is ignition power (so the backlight would be on any time the ignition switch is on and fog lights are off) or to a separate power switch so you can have them on/off whenever you want. When the fog light is turned on, it automatically cancels the backlight so there is no interferences there if you choose to wire it to an ignition power.

I installed mine yesterday and tapped them to my raptor lights which were already using the Ignition fuse tap so they would be on while truck was running.

I have a set of white SS3 Pros. Can I change the lense to amber? Will it still work or will the color be very off?

If you could get a set of max yellow lenses it would work but I don't think those are available separately. On the Pros the yellow uses a 4k chip and white uses 6k so it will be greenish. Max uses only 6k.

So finally got my setup where I like it. Lots of amber, isn't for everyone, but it has a nice presence on the road that's for sure.

    Rundown:
Diode Dynamics Amber DRL boards for the headlights (retrofits)
Diode Dynamics SS1 Pro's for Ditch Lights
Diode Dynamics SSC3 Max's for Fogs
    R4T Smoked Amber Raptor Lights
    BD 20" S8 Lightbar

All lights are white in color temp, it's quite impressive to have quad highbeam projectors, light bar, fog lights, and ditch lights on at once.

    Everything wired into my SwitchPros.

    Everything bought from @memario1214

So considering getting some ss3 sport yellow fog lights but dunno if I want with or without backlight

Anyone got comparison pictures? Is the backlight always on if truck is on regardless of stalk setting?

I opted for white with Amber Backlight and they compliment my headlights so well with its wide angle. Can see really see the turns before you make them or the animals along the side of the road. upload_2022-5-1_23-52-22.jpgupload_2022-5-1_23-53-3.jpg

Your post brings up an idea. Through the forscan program I can program a fog light to come on with the turnsignals. I'm going to try that, old fashioned cornering lights with fogs.

Easy enough. Here is the same light. One with the backlight on, and one with the main beam on. You have the opportunity to wire them however you'd like via wire tap, but most folks will tap either their parking light or DRL for activation.:

@Diode Dynamics do you know what size screw is used to hold on the bezel on the ss1 and ss2 lights? None of my gauge blocks has it, and it kinda seems like its a 3.5mm .6 pitch.
Or does anybody here know? :D
    Thanks

    I think it's 6-40, it's 5/16ths long and I count 11 threads.

i was thinking that also, but that would be odd as the the ss3 uses a m4 screw. figured they would stick with metric. hmmmm
