Hello I was wondering if it’s possible to wire the SS3 fog light amber backlight to a switch instead of tapping them into the headlights. Has anyone done it that way.

Yes - Perfectly easy. Run the backlight lead directly to the switch, and you can kick them on whenever you'd like.

Just to make sure I can run the wires coming off the pods and connect them to the pos/neg wires coming off the switch?

You are better off with the switch controlling a relay.

Ooh that was a while back.
Same spot I mounted my Rigids on my first 3rd Gen. The 2 bumper clips were removed and used a long bolt/nut to mount(stupid easy actually). All diy to be unique with all those plug and play kits.

how do you all put Diode Dynamics ditch lights onto a 2nd gen?

they only sell a plug and play kit for 3rd gen including bracket
I think it's because the bracket is unique to 3rd gen and wouldn't fit 2nd
but everything else from that kit would probably fit

maybe it can be bolted onto other brackets we all likely already have prior

is there a particular kit people order? I see they list multiple
3rd gen one for example, but also universal, etc.

it's probably pretty basic in terms of wiring
    -length
    -battery
    -ground
    -inline fuse
    -switch wherever in cabin

I wonder if there's a particular kit that works best
to keep it simple and install straight away
or if it takes keen digging through the site to figure out all the parts and pieces to gather into the cart

Different bracket for 2nd and 3rd gen like you guessed. Just buy a set of DD pods and mount them on another companies brackets.

For me I've found the the SAE driving and fog patterns are the most useful.. Combo, Spot, Flood not so much.

How does the stealth light bar light/show through the plastic grate thing? Does is create any weird shadows or cut off?

The actual fog light portion is plug and play. The backlight function is not because people like to hook them up different ways. I have mine wired into the parking light circuit. I have a friend who has his on a separate switch. You get to pick the way you want to hook that function up.
