    Did you weld a shackle mount to the end of 1/2" flat stock?

    Also, I love the simple design, notes taken.

    No, the 1/2 flat bar is solid all the way through. I welded 3/16th tabs to the out side of the 1/2 to make the shakle mounts 7/8th thick.

    The bolts were just to keep everything completely secure during the welds.

    The passenger side will have bolts. Driver side will have clevis pins.

    that was the goal. considering i only drug the stock hitch typically i shouldnt have any issues now. i still have a swingout hitch if i ever decide to add one but i want to keep my tailgate folding down at times.

    Instead of a swing-hitch why not just build a swing-out bumper? Would keep your departure angles from suffering.
