...and do they offer good door dinger protection? (I'm looking for the best option to prevent door dings).

I have similar (the predator step bars on the package truck I have) and I would not trust them against door dings. I park far away and next a curb

They're actually the Toyota Predator Step Bars that come bundled with the Tacoma XSP-X package. The OEM Part Number is: 00016-35017 Accessory Code: TRPB20.

As far as I know they're almost identical to the N Fab 3" Matte step bars; they even have the same step design. If you were to go with the N-Fab 3" it should look exactly like the bars I have.

They do only in the area where the actual steps are. The 3" main tube that runs the length of the truck doesn't stick out as far as the doors do, but the steps themselves do. This will probably give you a good idea of what I'm describing:

If you're really wanting good ding protection, I'd avoid step bars and instead go for a set of bolt-on sliders that run the entire length fender to fender. They'll protect the full side better than step bars and you'll get the primary benefit of protection from rocks should you ever go off-roading.

Thank you for all the info. The reason I asked I'm leaning towards putting those on.
