Yeaup... surprisingly enough. I was not counting the number of fish I caught, ranging from a pound to that 7 pounder, but it was more than 20. I caught every one of them (all bass and one 4.6 lb catfish) on Bar S chicken/pork hot dogs. 8 pack from Walmart is $.88 cents.

    Caught, then released.

got this large mouth bass last night. i’d guess(since i never weighed it, or measured it) it was probably 10 or 12” and 5 to 8LBS? could have been more i really don’t know. caught it on a TN shad. also ended up breaking my eagle claw reel... but i think that was just a coincidence that it broke... he did not fight much and i pulled it in by hand the last 5’ or so.(making sure the 12lbs line did not wrap around my fingers/hand.)

so they must be schooling together. Caught them in the same exact spot on the same bait, etc. Passed onto the game warden also.

If it was only 10-12 inches then it was barely 2.5 lbs at the most. Nice catch though

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Looks a lot more than 10-12 inches to me, unless you are REALLY short. Also looks heavier than 2.5 lbs. My guess is 5. Look at the picture and compare it to your left arm that's hanging.

I’m 5’8” and about 130 to 135. yeah i’d guess 4 to 5LBS, it felt about twice the weight of most the trout i get and those average 2 to 3lbs on a good day.

I guess all this talk just means i need to look at getting something to weigh them with.

Varied. I had 2 rods with me. I had gamakatsu octopus hooks, 1/0 and a 1/4 oz weight on one rod. The other I had a gamakatsu offset shank 1/0 and no weight.

I was cutting 1 inch pieces off the dogs.

The weighted line had the hook on the bottom and a bell shaped weight with brass eye looped through the line about a foot away from the hook.

I caught the big fella on the line with no weight, but it sank damn near to the bottom before he took it.

I don't mean to trivialize your fish, friend... but I've been fishing for bass since I was 9 and I'm 44. That fish is not even close to 5 pounds. If you look back to the fish I just posted on page 103, the smaller one was 4 lb 10 oz and it's easily bigger than the one you're holding.

The big one was 7 pounds and it could easily eat the fish you're holding. My guesstimate is 2.5 pounds at best. I have a Mustad digital scale that is very accurate.

Again, not trying to be a jerk. Just giving you perspective. Bass tend to be light, whereas catfish can look smaller, but weigh more.
