Is that a musky cross? Nicely done and few bankies get them.

A question for some of you saltwater anglers. I’m working at a Boy Scout camp over the summer in the keys and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for tackle for surf fishing and tackle for deep sea fishing when we take the scouts out. I’m planning on getting a bg8000 spoiled with 300m of 80lb daiwa boat braid with a 12’ rod I have for the surf then buying another rod to use on a boat. Looking for suggestions on rigs for the surf and on a boat, and a rod and lures for fishing from the boat. Thanks for any help.

Edit I would like to keep it cheap ish 100$? if possible and I don’t have a great metric on what kind of fishing I will be doing but each crew I take out we will go on a one day deep sea fishing trip and I’ll probably go out on days off if possible.

As far as a rod goes I would like something I can use for sharks as well as jogging and casting lures but I don’t know if you can get all of that in one rod. I think I could use whatever with some backbone for sharks and I could use my 12’ rod but it is a lot of leverage working against me if there is a shorter (6-8’?) rod that will work when I don’t need the casting distance.

To make it more complicated I have an okuma nomad (NT-S-703M-MH) 3 piece M and MH (2 different tips) but I snapped it a couple weeks ago and their warranty department was shut down due to covid. Maybe I will be able to send it in sometime before too long and use it instead but I despise how weak the joints of it are.

Here is a pic of the second paddlefish I caught this season to keep it somewhat on topic. Hooked him and a little silver carp on the same pull.
