The fish in this post is a brookie....did you catch them both on the same trip and what state are u fishing in?

edit: NVM I see you’re in WA lol that’s most likely a steelhead smolt (not a rainbow) in the first post

I did! Just some small creeks in my area. The first photo was the outlier, pretty sure everyone else of the 5 or so I caught had the spots like the second photo. I was always told red spot with blue halo is Brookie?

Browns can have halos and bull trout/dolly varden can too

and to clarify, you posted a pic of a steelhead smolt followed by a brook trout in the next post

I have sent a freezer box (UPS) to your home, please put what you can in the box, and give it back to the driver, the UPS airplane is sitting on the runway waiting to bring me your offerings.

Just got back into fishing, been about 20 years since I went. Me and the neighbor have been going out once or twice a week to some of the local pond/lakes. He has yet to catch anything, but i've been getting all sorts of pan fish and I got these two monsters the other day.

I've been working with limited supplies though, all my old stuff is long gone, and all the local stores have been pretty sold out on most things since fishing was still something you can do around here during the lock down.

Got 2 ugly stick gx2 rods (small and big), been mostly running smaller curly tails and stick baits. Only been having luck with the small curly tails though as the water is too warm for the bigger fish. I did get some new shad swim baits that I am excited to try out this week. Hoping that one of the smaller pikes will grab the shad, they seem to be hanging around in the shallows still as I had some hits on my curly tails, but they just rip them to shreds.

The pond we like to go to is a few miles away, its pretty small, but it has a 75 foot drop off in the middle. Plus its stocked with bass, northern pike, channel cats, trout and over run with pan fish. I'll be throwing out some stink baits into the deeper parts to see if I can get some of the cats.

DM me next time and Ill hook you up brotha. You still have to send pre paid package haha

That is really awesome! There is no drug like the tug. I always relay to new fisherman that equipment isn't as important as bait/lure presentation but I still recommend buying the best you can. Mostly saltwater fisherman here so corrosion can kill a reel in a trip.

I used to fish alot of largemouth, loved how hard they hit on lizard/frogs during spring and the consistent bite of a senko or worm Carolina rigged. It mostly comes down to targeting ponds/lakes without much pressure. Drop offs and thermoclines is always key!

Down here in the south, I found peanut butter kneaded in with white bread always produced a cat. Soaking baits always works!

It's been a few years since I've touched freshwater. I have been targeting mostly saltwater in shore and pelagics dependent on season and climate.

Sold my ocean kayak torque today.. was sad seeing it go. Boat is more important though. Ready to Bust Out Another Thousand :D:angrygirl:

My dad does saltwater off his dock in Florida, so im pretty excited for the next time I get to go down to visit them. Probably wont be until next year though, but he keeps sending me pictures of the sharks they catch off the dock.

My parents are coming up here to visit the kids and us, so I will have to grab another rod before he gets up here so we can try some fishing while the kids swim in the lake.

I have been looking at getting another kayak in addition to a bigger boat. Got any recommendations in the under $1k range? I was looking at a jonny bass 100. I need something that is stable and can take a trolling motor pretty cheap (I dont want to use a pod system that goes in the hole in the middle) I have a handicap, so balance issues and stamina in my legs is not great, my legs also cant sit in the same spot for long, so open top is best.

Yeah its getting super fun, I ordered a ice fishing rod last night to start getting ready for winter :) My neighbor has a small ice house sled that I might buy off him. I can tow it out onto the ice with my mini bike with some studded tires.

You will never find me anywhere indoors if I had a Floridian backyard ocean pier/deck!! I've spent so many summers fishing and have such fond memories in that state alone.

I would say all of the decent mid grade sit on tops run around that range. Ocean kayak and Hobie is what I've always used. There are great motor retrofit kits out nowadays so pretty much any hull can be converted. We have a shop down here that does demo days on their lake front shop... I would highly recommend doing something similar to find a kayak that suits your needs.

Here is my parents back yard, its a inter-coastal water way, so they live basically on a island with the ocean on one side and a tidal river on the other side.

This picture is pretty old, but it shows their old dock (before the last hurricane took it out) New dock is wider, and has a bigger boat house at the end. Its about 250 feet long.

Here is their old boat after I found it floating down river after the hurricane smashed it all up.

I'll see if there are any places planning on doing some demo days around me for kayaks. The season around here is pretty short though.
