Not a fish but two new custom rods I just had built and a new vr50 to pair with the demon

 

What do those rods go for $ ?

 

A century is $$$. Carbon rods, super light and super sensitive. That was probably $500+

 

Really. I know prices on VanStaal reels but in my opinion the most important part of the rig is the rod. I’d rather spend money on the rod.

This is probably going to be one of the most special fish pictures ever. She lost her granny two days ago, who was the founder and original owner of Frank and Frans tackle shop in Avon NC. We’ve had this trip planned for a couple months now. Yesterday she told me she wanted to catch granny’s fish. And this morning we succeeded. The smile says it all.

We try to get down to the Florida Keys once a year, we have family that runs a hotel so it keeps the cost down for us thankfully. I tell the wife we have to go fishing every time, she could take it or leave it lol. A few of our catches the past 2 years.


My son and I also take a fishing trip for a week once a year, 2021 was a bust due to weather (rained daily and windy). Thankfully he was able to catch the *big fish* of the trip. Heading back again this year with explosives and laser guided missiles I believe.
