Scored a 36 inch Halibut in San Diego last weekend

I've never fished saltwater. I'd probably have to have someone take the fish off the line for me. Idk what anything is or where to grab it without getting cut or stung. lol
First time I caught a Sturgeon on the Chippewa River I had no idea what it even was. Spikes all down the side.
WTF is this thing.

 

Hahahah sturgeon are true dinosaurs...incredible creatures to see up close! Their skin is neat too almost like a ray or shark...so weird

 

Took a charter out into Lake Superior this past weekend. Got a bunch of lake trout, I didnt bring any home as I dont eat fish, but I took home the extra bait for catfishing tonight.

 

Badass!

Lakers arent the greatest tasting but they're so much fun to catch...on the troll they obliterate spoons like small sharks lol Good stuff

 

You went charter fishing then catfishing at night?? Goodness you're built different lol I barely find enough energy now a days to fish the lake in my neighborhood lol

 

Well, I went charter fishing (5am), then drove a hour north to some waterfalls, then drove 3.5 hours back home. Then went to bed, but I worked all day then went cat fishing tonight.

Curiosity, can you elaborate on your rig set up? I see small pinkish jig above the one on the end of the line. Nice fish!

 

About one foot above the Bucktail there is a dropper loop with a teaser. The teaser is a more of a saltwater fly, not a jig, although some folks do use a small jig. Others use a plain hook baited with Gulp. I tip the treaser with a 4” Glup grub and the Bucktail with a 5” or 6” Gulp grub. Over half the time a Fluke will grab the treaser. This fish went for the Bucktail.
