Whats the temp down there? I might have to give it a shot down here, we are in a cold snap..... going to hit the 20's for the next couple nights. The next warm weather we get I am going to do it. Were they hitting lures or were you using live baits??? I was thinking about trying to run some deep waters with live baits.

Was 80 thursday...snowing now :p I hit em right before this front and they were not slow :) I just seen a few pics floating around of people catching em and with this mild winter it's seems to be on now

Deep wide wiggle crank caught a few, bottom worm drag worked, and live minos made the day poppin! Most and the biggest for me with 19, my buddy had the first and tried to catch me with 18 on the shore!

I will give it a try when it hits neat the 60's for 3 days. That way the water can warm up. Time to bust out the kayaks and try some deep holes with live bait and some lures at the same time. Best part about right now is no weeds....

This one hit a lizard I was pulling across some weeds, the thing jumped and seriously did a backflip. Watching him hit it was probably more fun than actually landing him lol.

Caught this today, well he was hanging on my 6 inch black Senko as I was reeling it in. I think by his humping action he thought maybe it was a female....

@toughtaco, not quite 5lbs but he was definitely solid! And as far as landing him goes, he was tangled up in the weeds so it was just kind of a pain to get him out! Hahah

Here is a rockfish I saw on a night dive in Puget Sound. Now I live in a state where what little water there is is too muddy to bother diving in.

Here is a picture of a lingcod that I took for an underwater photography course as part of my master diver certification. It was in the winter and the plankton was down so it was pretty clear, though cold as hell as I only have a wetsuit. I just had an Ikelite Instamatic 35mm but I did get some nice pictures with it. With that film camera though I always had to wait a week to see how my dive photos came out and when things pretty much went over to digital I gave it away. If I ever live near a coast again I'll have to invest in some digital gear.

There is nothing here for scale, unless you are familiar with how big plumose anemones (the orange thing in the foreground) get, but that fish was about 2.5' long.

Edit: Ling cod get pretty big and come up right to the shore at night. I landed right on a five-footer once just as I was going into the water -- scared the bejeesus out of me. A lot of the guys I dove with would spearfish these. They are pretty good eating if you get over the fact that the meat is a weird blue color before you cook them.
