    Size 2 worm hook, rigged carolina so I can let it go to the bottom. The bottom of this lake is the only spot where there is weeds. The lake is super clean, I have to look up the weeds so I can tell you what kind they are. I know the stringy hair like weeds that line your lure are down there and another I am not sure what it is.

    Awesome, thanks. I got skunked two weeks ago bass fishing but had better luck last weekend. I switched to a smaller hook on Saturday (# 2) and had better luck. I suspected the bigger hooks I was using previously killed my bait's liveliness.

    I'll use your fish as confirmation that I am on the right track because my trophy was 1/3 the size. :cool:

    The fish are bedding now. Find a bait that looks like something that eats eggs like lizards (such as the zoom brush hog) or blue gills, they will chase them off the bed and try to bite them. If you let it go to the bottom and drag it through there bed you are doing it right. If they don't see you , that will better your chances. Just what I have found out to be working right now.

    As far as the size of the hook, you have to match it to your bait. You can always adjust how you present the bait depending on what size hook you are using. Let me know how you make out.

    Geez sorry I am thinking about everything I have been doing lately. You kind of want to keep your line tight, the fish will swim off with your bait, mouthing it. If you feel enough of a tug you can set the hook easier with a tighter line. The fish that are going to smash your bait will set the hook on the strike... again sorry about all this mess.........

    I am going to give them a chance after the spawn. I have been using the power bait tequila sunrise for the past 3 years.

    Got spanked two days in a row this week, caught a handful of crappie and a cat fish the second day, one bass and a handful of bluegill the first. My partner was puttin is down on the large mouth :cool: and laughing his ass off the whole time:eek:
