I think I am going to place the green Maple out front and the red one outside of the window by the deck. We have some at my work that are about 30-40 ft tall.

    Woop Woop.

Wow. Mine is only about 15 feet. But maybe it's because I keep it trimmed.

Here is my pomengranite tree. Next to that is a crepe myrtle, not really pictured.

I plan on adding some kind of boarder pretty soon and maybe some good shade loving plants around there and some black mulch.

after I took the picture I trimmed it up a little more s it was starting to crowd the crepe mrytle

they are really pretty when they are in bloom. then they are a giant mess once the fruit starts dropping! I will be out there picking up after it and tossing them over the fence into the alley...haha

We always have a bad problem of leaf foot stinkbugs on it too.

Here is my front yard. This was taken like 2 months ago before a freeze killed the hydrangea and small rose bush. I need to get back out there and clean it up. I have no idea what the four bushes are, they were there when we bought the house along with some bramble bush that we ripped out before planting the stuff you see here.

I have spent the last few weekends re-doing my outdoor space. First started with a new paver/stone patio, then I had to turn my attention to the far back of my lot. It drains down hill and I am flooding my neighbors out. So I built a dry creek bed to slow and divert water to a drain. In the last pic you will see the rock that makes the creek bed. on either side of the rock is a blank slate to create a nice garden area. Thinking a couple cedar trees, and hardy plants and bushes that do not need a lot of attention. We have another garden as you can see on the patio that gets the most attention. This one at the bottom of the hill will be more of a bird sanctuary with shrubs and trees that produce good songbird fruits.

Thanks, there were so many to choose from. We wanted something that blended well with the house color. Looking back I might have went a little darker now though. These lighter colored stones are showing some stains already...should you seal pavers?

Sale finally went through last week. My wife and I spent the last few days moving in. It's super nice. Even though Escondido is hot, there's a nice cool breeze that blows all day because it's up high.

Thanks. The original owner said our location is perfect for Avocados. It's high enough up that it doesn't get as many frost problems as the valley elevations. We have a picker coming this weekend to clean off the Hass avocados. The original owner recommended keeping one tree for our use and have the company pick the rest. There are so many that they would just go to waste.

The nice thing about the trees is that we have different types that ripen at different times. For the avocado trees, we have two Fuerte trees that harvest in October-December and 14 Hass trees that harvest July-August. We also have two types of orange tree (valencia and navel). One ripens in the summer and one in the winter.

Most harvesters won't take Fuerte avacodos because their skins are thin and they bruise easily. They're very tasty though. They have a different taste than the Hass variety. They are more nutty in flavor.

My manual juicer arrived yesterday and we had some fresh squeezed orange juice this morning. So good!!!

Well this summer has been brutal on lawns in the midwest. We basically had 100 straight days of 0 rain. Well that all came to an end on Friday and Saturday when Isaac moved into our area for a good 24 hours. We got 6 inches of a good slow rain over 24 hours. I took advantage of the soft ground yesterday and spent the whole day working on the lawn. In order:

    Mowed/Bagged real short
    Mowed/Bagged even shorter
Raked up lots of built up thatch
    Mark all sprinkler heads
    Aerate, at least three passes
Used a garden tine to rough up areas that needed extra seeding
Overseeded, 75 lbs, of a special fescue blend for the KC area
Spread 50 lbs of Dyna Green (seed starter and fertilizer)

Right as I was cleaning everything up I started zone 1 on the sprinkler and realized I had a busted head, F-Me! Dug up and replaced the head and I was all complete. 8 hours in about 95 degree weather and I was literally crawling into bed last night I was so sore. Feels good though I am all done with the fall grass ritual. I have the rest of my saturdays to watch football, well at least until the leaves start falling...
