Oh, and the bottom of my ass is really sore from the seat, is there anything I can do do combat that other than to just man up?

Get yourself a bib with a built in chamois, or shorts with removeable chamois and some "butt butter". I know it sounds ghey, but it's what every serious rider uses. I prefer the bibs myself because I can wear whatever shorts I want over it, plus I road bike as well so I'm used to them.

Just recently got into this sport. I had an 2000 Trek 800 sport that I bought years ago and got it up and going again. We have a real nice MTB park (all single track trails) about 10 miles from my house and I've been hitting it hard recently. I can see that I am going to end up spending some serious money as the hobby hits me harder and harder. Wish I had a few pics of the bike just for the hell of it but I don't. Maybe I'll post a few later.

I actually have 2 sets of those. For the price, they work pretty good. I have found they aren't very good for anything more than 2 hours.

Went out for a ride yesterday..a little wet out as its been raining for the last week, but I just needed to get out.

Damn that green moss sure is slippery![IMG]

    a pretty cool creek crossing
    [IMG]

a damn porcupine scurried up a tree right in front of me
    [IMG]

Bike loaded up..ready to head home. I can fit at least 4 bikes on the back this way.

here's another angle of the bike rack. I literally slapped it all together one morning before a ride from scrap wood laying around. The top cross member is a piece of old molding, but the angles worked nicely.

nice! is it connected to the bed at all? I thought about adding something to connect it to the bed rails but that might be too much work if i want to take it out for other stuff

About half way down the uprights I attached a couple of 2x4 blocks so that it would give me the depth to ratchet strap it to the rear loops. That's it, held in place by one strap. But very secure once under a little tension. The loose end of the strap I just returned around the bottom of the frame to hold the bike in place.
I got the idea from a rack I saw on one of the Pinkbike videos.
