What's the point of using carbon fiber on a downhill bike? I'm an XC kind of guy, but from my understanding, weight is not an enemy in downhill riding.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
As a recreational downhill rider, the benefits i've seen testing out various friends' CF DH frames vs their aluminum equivalents is the significant increase in how nimble the bike is overall. Stopping distances are also reduced(I can carry speed for longer, and brake LESS and LATER)...pedaling out(acceleration) is also a little more snappy out of turns.

For a seasoned veteran rider who pedals a CF DH bike and does it for trophies, there may be a whole list of benefits in addition to the ones I've observed.

I believe it is a 2009 or 08. I bought at the bike show. Long story short, I wasn't going to get.a new bike, but it was on sale for $1 999. 29'er, Reba fork, Sram X0 kit..Made the mistake of testdriving. Pretty much guaranteed to buy ti at that point. Knocked another $50 off. Went for a walk to think about it, went around the corner to another booth. Same bike "Sale Special only. Today only!" Price tag.was $650 higher. Ran back..."I'll take it!"
When we.got outside, started pulling sales tags off, and the. first tag said something like.$4 200. Im pretty happy with my choice. The 29'er was a bit of an adjustment, But I love now. You just have watch, every company seems to buid different. Some stretch the frame to fit 29er, which makes you feel you just got on you big brotherds bike. I lovee it. Especially the Brain shock. Awesome for a clydesdale like me. Of course, with adjustible shock, resevoir, and fork, it's almost to much adjustibility. Almost....the poser factor makes up the lost points.

Thanks brother. It was a long time coming. I sold my last Trek last year in May. It felt super great to get on one again. I so needed it.
